How to Access and Beat Level 3999 in Escape the Backrooms

Everything you did up until this point was only just the beginning

Level 3999 has subsequently become the final Level that players can reach in The Backrooms media. Its lore states that in order to locate the final Level, you will need to go through specific glitches or visual crashes relating directly to technology, in order to gain access to Level 3999. As the appearance of this Level takes the form of an abandoned, infinite maze of Arcade Machines where civilization can be seen just beyond the impenetrable glass windows, the end to the Backrooms can really feel like a beginning. With doors and windows almost taunting at the player that life continues on from the other side of the glass, without them. But Escape the Backroom’s rendition of this Level is more sinister.

In Escape the Backrooms, the supposed final Level of the Backrooms is revealed and it is different to what is normally expecting with Level 3999. Whilst we have the rows upon rows of Arcade Games, standing against the walls like knights of armor in a Resident Evil game, the entire setting is much less hopeful than the initial speculation of the Level. A Staff Only door can be seen but this leads back to the tunnel where players choose their Level. Instead, you peer over into the darkness and take that step inside. For Update 3, the ending is clear – everything you did up until this point was only just the beginning. This is our guide on how to access and beat Level 3999 in Escape the Backrooms.

How to Get to Level 3999 in Escape the Backrooms

In Escape the Backrooms, Level 3999 (the subsequent final Level of the game) can be accessed directly through completing Level 10. Unlike the tunnels where most Levels can be selected from, you will find yourself seamlessly blending into the new surroundings of the next Level. In the Backrooms, nothing makes sense and because of this, you should not attempt to try and complete the game or get to Level 3999 by following the Levels in numerical order. The game is set to be complete in one way, unlike speculation suggesting that level 3999 can be accessed multiple ways.

How to Beat Level 10

Level 10 starts as most Levels do, collect your goods at its entrance and then take a deep breath for something new awaits around the corner. With heavy Signs, A Quiet Place and Outlast 2 vibes, Level 10 takes place inside a corn field. Whilst there are no aliens around, there are Entities that behave and act like enemies from Outlast. They roam the corn, looking to jump out as you if you risk the straight path to its end. Because of this, the Level primarily takes place inside the corn field itself. Having very limited visibility as the corn obstructs your vision makes for a Level that is panic-inducing. Use what it around you to your advantage, be it fences or powerlines. These will be your friend to keep yourself sane and to help map out the Level’s layout in your head without getting lost. You need to find 4 Windmills and turn their power on for the red light to illuminate the way forward.

With a full release we will likely see that you can in fact access Level 3999 from different routes. Be it glitches by final blue screens in the walls or accessing computers in specific Levels. However this once again is speculation, the choice is up to Fancy Games on what they want to do for Level 3999.

How to Beat Level 3999 in Escape the Backrooms

As of Fancy Games’ latest update for Escape the Backrooms on June 15th, 2023, Level 3999 cannot be beaten. This is because for now, its introduction to the game is actually where the update ends. The final reveal on exactly what this Level truly has in store for its players will be revealed for Escape the Backrooms’ full release. For now, players will have to continue their speculation as to what they can expect. But if it is anything like what is already out there, you can imagine a low survival chance based on the almost impossible tasks set by the Backrooms itself. Whilst there should be no Entity threat inside the Arcade, do not for a single feel like you are safe.

The end of Escape the Backrooms is in sight. But can you actually do what the title entails?
