How Many Years Does Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life Cover?

Just how many seasons are there?

Story of Seasons is exactly what the title entails, it follows you throughout your life as a farmer working throughout the seasons. But the Wonderful Life aspect of the game is determined by your drive and determination to find your life partner and do what God intended for all of us to do – make babies (I say this as a queer, non-binary person). But as this is a Harvest Moon remake, you can expect sincere tranquillity in life as a farmer, searching for their life-long partner in the quest to find love. As the crops and animals you care for need love, so too does the farmer nurturing them. Follow your character throughout years of their wonderful life and hope that you will have the same. But just how long does your character live for? Just how many seasons do you have to play through? This is Vincent’s guide on the amount of years Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life covers.

How Many Years Pass in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life?

For those who did not play the original Harvest Moon, you may be thinking that the game spans across a year being that it is the Story of Seasons. Unlike other entries in the Story of Seasons series, seasons actually last for a significantly less amount of time. Lasting 10 days per season instead of the typical 30 days to be exact. Therefore, A Wonderful Life takes 40 days for a year to pass. This would make the game incredibly short if this was the case, especially as the first year is incredibly important to earning money, getting the third field and building bonds with potential Marriage Candidates. A Wonderful Life goes far beyond the first year, staying with your character and the other residents of Forgotten Valley as they reach old age.

As every hour in-game lasts only a single minute in real life, you can imagine just how quickly time is passing inside Forgotten Valley. With the entire first year dependant on you finding your life partner to then move onto the second chapter of the farming life where you need to bring up your child to follow in your footsteps, the total amount of time you are with/ playing as your character is 10 years. However, that is the total amount of time in which you are actually playing as the protagonist. At the end of each chapter, there is a time jump in which you will see your character a little bit older. Say year 1 takes place in 2023, you will be joining your character in 2033 for year 2. This is to accommodate the important landmarks of a person’s life – adolescence, adulthood, marriage/ divorce, having children and bringing them up.

For Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, you are following your protagonist for a total of 30 years, seeing them reach old age by the end of the game. But can you truly provide them with the wonderful life that they so deserve?
