When you first look at it, Hell Let Loose looks like any other WW2 shooter game. COD, Medal of Honor, Battlefield, what’s the difference? Well, there are more than a few.
The team behind Hell Let Loose set a goal of creating a realistic WW2 battle experience and, with that, brought in many elements that hadn’t been seen before. One of the things is the length of matches, which can go significantly longer compared to any of your Battlefield 1 matches. Keep reading and learn more about how this game is built.
Hell Let Loose Match Length
The match length in Hell Let Loose depends on the mode you’re playing, but it can range anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours and 30 minutes, although the latter probably won’t occur often. The game currently has 2 modes: Warfare and Offensive.
Warfare Mode in Hell Let Loose
When starting off in Warfare, your team and the opposite one have an HQ and 2 strong points in your control, with one neutral strong point in the middle of the map. The timer for this mode is 1 hour and 30 minutes, and to win the match, you either have to control the middle strong point when the timer expires, or you have to gain control of all 5 strong points on the map.
So technically, if your team is better organized, you can finish this match in 30 minutes or less. However, if both teams are balanced, it can take you to that full 90-minute duration.
It’s important to note that both teams get 500 of each resource at the start and an influx of 30 resources per minute.
Offensive Mode in Hell Let Loose
Offensive mode puts one team in the shoes of the attackers and the other one on the offensive. The defenders control all 5 sectors from the get-go, and the attacking team has 30 minutes to capture each sector (strong point) to be able to move on to the next one.
So, if the attackers take a full 30 minutes to catch each of the 5 sectors, the match could potentially go to a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes, but that rarely happens. The defenders can’t reconquer the lost strong points, and if they, for example, manage to defend the first one for 30 minutes, they win after only 30 minutes of gameplay.
In this battle, the resources aren’t the same. The attackers get 500 of each resource (+30 per minute), while the defenders get 250 (+30 per minute). The defenders, however, start with 3 garrisons and artillery, which are unavailable to the attackers.
