How Dreamlight Duties Work in Disney Dreamlight Valley

Do your chores, get some magic.

The works and worlds of Disney are absolutely lousy with magic and whimsy. Even when those worlds are subsumed by dark thorns causing the inhabitants to forget themselves, there’s still plenty of magic to go around. You just need to squeeze that magic out of every little aspect of your life. Here’s how Dreamlight Duties work in Disney Dreamlight Valley.

How Dreamlight Duties Work in Disney Dreamlight Valley

In Disney Dreamlight Valley, the titular Dreamlight is the light-based currency used to chase away the Night Thorns, as well as grow your relationship with your Disney buddies. You need lots of the stuff to reclaim large tracts of land from the Night Thorns and ensure the prosperity of your burgeoning community. While you’ll accrue Dreamlight from pursuing the game’s main objectives, you can supplement your Dreamlight supply with Dreamlight Duties from the Wishing Well.

Dreamlight Duties are a list of small, relatively simple tasks you can accomplish for a Dreamlight payout up to a particular cap. As you simply play the game, explore the world, find items, and interact with your friends, you’ll passively work on many of these tasks, though some require a slightly more concentrated effort.

Dreamlight Duties are broken up into eight categories, which are as follows:

  • Foraging: Explore wilderness areas and harvest natural resources
  • Gardening: Grow and tend to various crops and flora
  • Fishing: Fish up sea critters in different spots and with different equipment
  • Cooking: Cook newer, more advanced recipes, or use specific ingredients
  • Collection: Obtain items, clothes, decorations, and more
  • Friendship: Interact with your friends by giving them gifts, taking pictures with them, or just chatting
  • Village: Improve your village with new services and buildings
  • Mining: Dig up minerals and gemstones

You can always check on your Dreamlight Duties from either the Wishing Well or your menu. Every time you accomplish the Duty’s stated goal, you can redeem Dreamlight from it. Each goal on a particular Duty is larger than the previous, but if you just keep playing the game, many of them will get naturally filled in as you go.
