Training Pokémon throughout the franchise have seen several implementations and mechanics that bring complexity, depth, and a tad bit of confusion. One of those mechanics are what we refer to as Egg Moves. And no, it is not what you think or sound like. Egg Moves are basically special moves that will be inherited through breeding. Sort of like when you inherit the eyes of your mother, like Harry Potter. Anyway, the Egg Move mechanic has been updated for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It is now a straightforward and streamlined process. So if you would like your Pokémon to learn those Egg Moves, read on to learn how to pass down Egg Moves in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
How to Pass Down Egg Moves
In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, there are currently two methods to pass down Egg Moves between your Pokémon. The first one has already been mentioned, and it involved breeding. If a compatible move is passed down during breeding, the resulting hatching Pokémon will learn the move. However, another way to pass the Egg Moves is by using the Mirror Herb. In order to get it, you will have to buy it in Delibird Presents in Cascarrafa for 30,000 poké dollars.
The Mirror Herb is used for battle, but also can be used during picnics to pass moves. You will have to place it on the Pokémon you want to teach the move to and go for a picnic with it along the Pokémon that possesses the move you wish to teach. This method has the advantage over breeding because neither Pokémon needs to be in the same egg group for it to work.
