Best Nature for Armarouge and Charcadet in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Whether you catch a Charcadet yourself and evolve it into an Armarouge, or receive a pre-evolved Armarouge from a friend, you want it to have a Nature that corresponds with its stats and specialties. Armarouge in particular packs a mildly ridiculous amount of Sp. Attack at the cost of average Defense and below-average Speed. You’ll want to prioritize those stats while you’re raising your Charcadet.

What are Natures in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet? Answered

A Pokemon’s Nature provides both a stat bonus and a stat penalty. Basically, every Nature prioritizes one stat’s development, while another stat doesn’t grow as much. Since Armarouge’s whole shtick is Sp. Attack, the best course of action would be to get a Nature that boosts that Sp. Attack further, turning it into a DPS dynamo. Alternatively, since its Sp. Attack is already so high, you could opt instead to shore up its other stats by making a few sacrifices.

For Armarouge, the best possible Natures, and the specific stats they affect, are as follows:

  • Modest: Increases Sp. Attack, lowers Attack
  • Mild: Increases Sp. Attack, lowers Defense
  • Bold: Increases Defense, lowers Attack
  • Jolly: Increases Speed, lowers Sp. Attack

Modest and Mild are the best choices for a straight-up Sp. Attack DPS build. As long as you focus exclusively on projectile attacks like Flamethrower or Psychic, Armarouge will be able to consistently deal absolutely ridiculous damage.

Balanced Approach for Armarouge

If you’re looking for a more balanced approach, Bold will give Armarouge some extra defense at the cost of its physical damage. Again, as long as you stick to moves that use the Sp. Attack stat, your overall damage output won’t be negatively affected. Or, if you want to shore up that low Speed, you can ax a bit of the Sp. Attack to balance things out further.

Natures don’t usually make or break a Pokemon’s performance in casual play, but if you really want to be the best of the best, you need to ensure your Armarouge is ready for primetime. Good luck and thank you for reading!
