How do you Make Worm Food in Terraria?

Slay the Eater of Worlds

When one thinks of worm food, being able to summon a boss fight isn’t what comes to mind at first. But in Terraria, that’s exactly what its for. Doing so actually requires a bit of setup, but not if you know what you’re doing. For those who are looking for a challenge early on in the game, the Eater of Worlds is a great answer. Making worm food is just the beginning of the process of challenging them. Though as a prerequisite, player must have access to the Demon Altar, more on that later.

Making Worm Food in Terraria

To get started on making worm food, players first must need the proper ingredients. First up is Vile Powder, which can easily be made so long as players have an Alchemy table. Simply gather five Mushrooms, and they can be crafted into Vile Powder. The material can also be bought in some stores at random. Once players have thirty Vile Powder, it’s time to focus on Rotten Chunks. Rotten Chunks can be dropped on random chance by Eaters of Souls, Devourers, and Corruptors. These enemies can be found around the Corruption biome.

Something extremely important to note here, players must have access to the Corruption biome to make use of Worm Food. If players find themselves choosing the Crimson biome after defeating the Wall of Flesh, this will make the process significantly more difficult. As Rotten Chunks can only be found by enemies in the Corruption Biome. Not only that, but Worm Food can only be used in the Demon Altar. Should players use the Worm Food in a Crimson Altar, the item will be consumed, but nothing will happen. There are ways of introducing Corruption aspects to your world if you chose the Crimson, but it’s a time consuming effort.

Nonetheless, should all materials be acquired, simply go to the Demon Alter, craft the Worm Food, and players will be ready to face off against the Eater of Worlds. Players should note that the Eater of Worlds has a max HP of 10050, and is immune to the Confused debuff.
