Cherry tomatoes are one of the many ingredients you can obtain in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet for preparing stat and percentage-boosting sandwiches at Picnics with your Pokemon. Cherry tomatoes in particular have a high sweet and sour rating, provide boosts to your catch rate and encounter rate, and are favored by Bug-type Pokemon. They do reduce the number of item drops when battling Pokemon a bit, though.

The following sandwich recipes in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet require cherry tomatoes as an ingredient:

  • Refreshing (Great/Ultra/Master) Sandwich
  • Variety (Great/Ultra/Master) Sandwich
  • Vegetable (Great/Ultra/Master) Sandwich

As with other ingredients, you can also use cherry tomatoes in free creation mode to create your own sandwich. Given their Meal Power boosts to encounter and catch rates, cherry tomatoes are best utilized on a sandwich when you’re on the hunt for a particular kind of Pokemon, and want to make absolutely sure you catch it in a Poke Ball.

Personally, I like cherry tomatoes with a balsamic drizzle, but that’s not a thing in this game. It’s a shame, I bet that’d make for a great sandwich.
