MLB the Show’s latest release is expected to ship in late March, and as anticipation grows, PlayStation has issued a new blog highlighting some of the impending improvements to this year’s title. The blog covers a wide range of modifications, from defensive to settings and visual updates. This article will look at the offensive side of the ball, especially the changes to how batting works in MLB the Show 23.

Clutch Batting in MLB the Show 23

The upcoming changes reflect a more realistic approach. They are doing this by making changes to one key attribute, Clutch. Formerly, clutch would offer you bonuses when runners were in scoring position on MLB the Show. When you’re up to bat with runners in scoring position, the clutch attribute will now take the place of the contact attribute. Batter clutch vs. Pitcher clutch will now be the contest between the hitter and the batter with runners in scoring position.

How batting works in MLB the Show 23 changes even more with two new offensive quirks. A Bad Ball Hitter batter will hit pitches outside of the strike zone better than the typical hitter. Also, the Table Setter quirk gains benefits when there are no runners on the base.

Between pitches

The swing feedback display has been improved as a final adjustment to hitting in MLB the Show 23. This display offers a variety of information after each swing, including batter attributes, pitch location, pitch type, swing timing, and plate coverage indicator placement. It is a lot of information to digest, and it may have been difficult in past editions. The swing feedback display will now be read from left to right, top to bottom. Although not a direct change to batting, it will definitely have its part in how batting works in MLB the Show 23.

Since 1995, I have had an inseparable relationship with mobile games. More recently, my goal has been to bridge the gap between skill and critical thinking in video games. You don't have to be the best all the time to be the best. I'm here to prove it! I like competitive and casual, mobile and console and everything in between. World of Warcraft, League of Legends, Call of Duty and Apex are my current favorite games. Oh, did I mention that I love LEGO Star Wars games!
