Even the world’s wisest scholars only have so much room in their noggins. Unless you have an eidetic memory, when you learn new stuff, some other stuff has to fall out of your head to make room. This is frustrating if you’re in school, and potentially deadly when you’re trying to remember how to cast a spell with a giant monster bearing down on you. To ensure that you don’t have a little mid-battle brain fart, you need to broaden your ability to retain and cast spells. Here’s how to unlock more spell slots in Elden Ring.
How to Unlock More Spell Slots in Elden Ring
When you get some Sorceries and Incantations for your character in Elden Ring, you need to visit a Site of Grace and use the Memorize Spells menu to equip them. The problem is that you only have a few slots to equip spells to, so even if you have the tome for a particular magic, you can’t use it unless there’s room for it. The good news is that it is possible to increase the number of spell slots you have available to you. All you need is to find a particular item to improve your memory: Memory Stones.
Whenever you obtain a Memory Stone in Elden Ring, you’ll unlock one additional spell slot, up to a maximum of 10. More slots mean equipping more spells, which in turn gives you more options in the heat of combat.
So where do you find Memory Stones? Well, therein lies the rub I’m afraid. Memory Stones are very rare in the Lanes Between, which means it could very well take you an entire playthrough just to find nine of them. In general, though, you can get Memory Stones by defeating major story bosses and certain minibosses, as well as completing certain Legacy Dungeons.
If you’d like an easy one, the Twin Maiden Husks in the Roundtable Hold hub area have one for sale for 3,000 Runes, which sounds like a lot but trust me, it’s totally worth it. In fact, this should be one of the very first Memory Stones you grab in a new playthrough if you can help it.
