Elden Ring Greatsword Tier List

You can never have too much sword.

There’s something kind of thematically apropos about lugging around a giant sword half your own weight in a bleak setting like Elden Ring. Though, considering how powerful some of these greatswords are, perhaps using them isn’t as much of a thematic burden as they may appear. Here’s our Elden Ring Greatsword tier list.

Elden Ring Greatsword Tier List

Despite their prodigious size and weight, second only to the Colossal Swords, Elden Ring’s Greatswords are remarkably versatile weapons. As you’d expect, most of them are monstrously powerful in the raw damage department, but many of them are also supplemented by unique and esoteric abilities.

With a good stat build to make up for the speed deficit, the right Greatsword can kick exponentially more butt than even some of the fastest short swords and katanas. If you’re planning on a Greatsword build, though, you’d do well to know which ones can cut the metaphorical mustard.

S-Tier Greatswords

These bad boys are the complete package. Monstrous stats and powerful abilities make for the perfect death-dealing package. If you’ve got the stats for them, they’ll never steer you wrong.

  • Blasphemous Blade
  • Dark Moon Greatsword
  • Death’s Poker
  • Sacred Relic Sword

A-Tier Greatswords

While not as absolutely busted as the S-Tiers, these Greatswords are no slouches in the stat or ability departments either. You might need to make up the difference with your stats and gear a bit, but they’re still perfectly reliable.

  • Gargoyle’s Blackblade
  • Inseparable Sword
  • Lordsworn’s Greatsword
  • Helphen’s Steeple

B-Tier Greatswords

These Greatswords are more circumstantial choices, meshing better with builds that might not work with stronger Greatswords. They’re not perfect, but if you know what you’re doing, you can still pull off a few neat tricks with them.

  • Sword of Milos
  • Marais Executioner’s Sword
  • Alabaster Lord’s Sword
  • Gargoyle’s Greatsword
  • Flamberge

C-Tier Greatswords

These Greatswords won’t do anything special for you. They may be decent in very specific circumstances, for unleveled players, or just for kicks, but if you actually want to succeed in a fight, look elsewhere.

  • Iron Greatsword
  • Claymore
  • Bastard Sword
  • Forked Greatsword
  • Ordovis’ Greatsword

With sufficient upgrading and practice, even the lesser swords could still be tools of victory. But I ask you, why the heck would you even bother with a lesser Iron Greatsword when you can use the Blasphemous Blade and win all the time? I certainly can’t think of a reason.
