Where to Get the Sword of Morne in Elden Ring

Here's everything you need to know about how to get the Sword of Morne in Elden Ring

Full disclosure: I’ve never watched or read Game of Thrones. However, even I know the Iron Throne when I see it (even if I don’t know its significance), and when I saw a particular sword while playing Elden Ring, I knew ol’ George R.R. Martin had snuck in a reference to his favorite creation. You get a guy like that to help with your massive fantasy game, it’s a given you’re gonna get at least one reference. If you’d like to marvel at the sword yourself, then here’s where to get the Sword of Morne in Elden Ring.

When you first enter the Weeping Peninsula, located to the south of Limgrave and past the Bridge of Sacrifice, you’ll stumble upon a blind noblewoman named Irina. Irina used to be a resident of Castle Morne, located to the south, with her father, Edgar, serving as its warden. However, the castle is currently under siege by the Misbegotten, and Irina doesn’t know if her father is safe. She gives you a letter to deliver to him, requesting that he abandon the castle and flee to safety.

Where to Get the Sword of Morne in Elden Ring

To get the Sword of Morne in Elden Ring, you’ll need to defeat Leonine Misbegotten.

When you get to Castle Morne and fight your way up to its parapets, you may spot some human soldiers battling with some Misbegotten. Past those soldiers and up a set of stairs, you’ll find Edgar, contemplating the losing battle. Give him Irina’s letter, and he’ll say that while he wants to leave, he’s duty-bound to protect the castle, at least until he’s successfully secured its ancestral weapon, the Sword of Morne.

As it turns out, the sword is held by the area’s main boss, Leonine Misbegotten, a titanic, wolf-like Misbegotten utilizing the sword as his own. You’ll eventually find him past a fog gate on a small island at the end of a linear pathway of parapets and ladders. Leonine is a large and fast foe, regularly making large, soaring leaps and multiple quick slashes with his gigantic weapon. However, besides those slashes, he doesn’t really have any other tricks up his sleeve, so the best thing you can do is call up some Spirits to help you (I’m a fan of the Skeletal Militiamen, personally), and try to deal as much damage to him as possible while his aggression isn’t focused toward you.

When you defeat Leonine, he’ll drop the Grafted Blade Greatsword, which despite the different name, is in fact the Sword of Morne that you’re looking for. It’s quite the stunning armament, provided you have the stats for it.

  • Weapon Type: Colossal Sword
  • Damage: 157 Physical, 100 Critical
  • Scalings: STR C, DEX E
  • Requirements: STR 40, DEX 14
  • Special Skill: Oath of Vengeance. Raises all attributes and Poise for about 30 seconds.

Return to Edgar atop the castle walls, and he’ll be relieved to see the sword safely secured, and he’ll even let you keep it! He’ll agree to abandon his post and return to Irina. Return to the spot where you met Irina, and you’ll see Edgar did just that, returning to Irina… only to find her with a Misbegotten cleaver in her back. Whoops. Oh well, free sword!
