How to Enter Miquella’s Haligtree in Elden Ring

Trees are common iconography in Elden Ring. The entirety of the Lands Between is situated beneath the massive Erdtree, and there are Minor Erdtrees all over the place. However, there is one very special tree just out of sight which conceals one of the game’s most infamously challenging areas, not to mention most infamously challenging bosses. Here’s how to enter Miquella’s Haligtree in Elden Ring.

Miquella’s Haligtree is a secret area located at the northernmost point of the Lands Between. Or perhaps it would be more accurate to call it a series of secret areas, as getting to the very end of it all, where the secret boss Melania, Sword of Miquella dwells, requires you to navigate several difficult sub-areas. Before you can even do that part, though, you need to crack the code that’ll get this whole shebang rolling.

How to Enter Miquella’s Haligtree in Elden Ring

Here’s an abridged step-by-step for how to enter Miquella’s Haligtree in Elden Ring:

  1. Get the left half of the Haligtree Medallion from the roof of Castle Sol
  2. Get the right half of the Haligtree Medallion from Albus in the Village of the Albinaurics
  3. Use the completed medallion at the Grand Lift of Rold to enter the Hidden Path to the Haligtree, then follow the path into the Consecrated Snowfield
  4. Follow the lights along the ground to locate Ordina, Liturgical Town
  5. Enter the Evergaol and light the four torches to break the seal at the top of the stairs that lead to Miquella’s Haligtree

The entrance to Miquella’s Haligtree is located in the Consecrated Snowfield, the hidden northern point of the world map. You can’t reach this place on foot; the only way up there is via a special secret stop on the Grand Lift of Rold, the big elevator that separates the Forbidden Lands past Leyndell from the Mountaintops of the Giants. To access this stop, you need the two halves of the Haligtree Secret Medallion.

The left half of the Haligtree Medallion can be found atop Castle Sol, located at the northern edge of the Mountaintops of the Giants. To get up to the roof, you’ll need to defeat the castle’s boss, Commander Niall, and his troop of ghostly guards. Once you defeat Niall, just follow the path he was blocking off and you’ll find the left half at the end.

The right half of the Haligtree Medallion is located in the Village of the Albinaurics in Liurnia of the Lakes. It’s in the southwestern part of the region, underneath the large plateau atop the southern cliffs. You can enter it from the southern part of the watery area. Once you find the Site of Grace here, head up the hill and past the hostile Perfumer, and you’ll see a small pot in a nook in the wall. Give it a smack, and it’ll transform into Albus, an Albinauric who was in hiding. Chat him up, and he’ll give you the right half for safekeeping.

Once you’ve got both halves of the Haligtree Medallion, return to the Grand Lift of Rold. On the spot where you would use the normal medallion to activate the lift, cycle your options to use the secret medallion instead. The lift will bring you up to the Hidden Path to the Haligtree, a crypt-like tunnel full of Vulgar Militia and Land Octopi. It’s a pretty simple place to navigate, just keep following the path until you emerge into the Consecrated Snowfield.

The Consecrated Snowfield is constantly in the midst of a heavy blizzard, severely limiting your visibility. Look along the ground and on the sides of cliff walls, and you’ll see a path of shining stones to guide you forward. Stay on your toes, as there are enemies hiding within the blizzard. Once you follow the stones far enough, you should find the area’s map, which will reveal your heading, as well as your destination to the north: Ordina, Liturgical Town.

The entrance to Miquella’s Haligtree is located at the top of the staircase at the very back of the town, but the door is blocked by a seal. Not too far from the seal, you’ll find an entrance to a special Evergaol that encompasses the entire town. You’ll need to find four large, boxy shrines located around the town and light the torches within. Be especially careful here; there’s an invisible Black Knife Assassin skulking around the town’s ground level, as well as archers with magic arrows on the rooftops. If you happen to get killed, don’t worry, any torches you light will stay lit, so you don’t have to do this whole thing in one go.

When the torches are all lit, you’ll be booted from the Evergaol and the seal blocking the door will break. Congratulations, you’ve entered Miquella’s Haligtree. Careful not to fall off, those branches are quite narrow.
