Where to Get Margit’s Shackles in Elden Ring

One of the first major bosses you’ll likely fight in Elden Ring is Margit, The Fell Omen. He’s a big dude that’s blocking the way up to Stormveil Castle, and he would very much appreicate it if you stopped living. He’s one of the first big threats you’ll encounter near the start of a playthrough, and odds are good he’ll completely stomp you if you’re unprepared. It is, however, possible to fudge the odds in your favor slightly by using a special item known as Margit’s Shackles. Here’s where to get Margit’s Shackles in Elden Ring.

Margit’s Shackles is a consumable item that can only be used in the fight against Margit, The Fell Omen, and while it’s not required to beat him, it can make the process at least a little easier.

Where to Get Margit’s Shackles in Elden Ring

The only place you can obtain Margit’s Shackles is from a particular merchant named Patches. Patches hangs out in the Murkwater Cave in Limgrave. If you follow the Murkwater River, you’ll find it roughly in the middle, at the bottom of a ravine.

Inside Murkwater Cave, which is very dark by the way, so make sure you have a torch, you’ll find Patches past a mist gate in the right side of the cave. Patches unfortunately won’t be in much of a mood for commerce, so you’ll have to fight him. He’s just one regular guy, so he’s not that tough; fight him the same way you’d fight most human enemies.

Once you’ve chopped off about half of Patches’ health bar, he’ll plea for mercy. You can kill him for some assorted items, but if you want Margit’s Shackles, you’ll have to spare him. He’ll promise to open a shop if you give him some time, so leave the cave and go bum around for a little while, then come back later. When you return, talk to Patches again to check out his wares, and you’ll see Margit’s Shackles for sale for 5,000 Runes.

Once you’ve got Margit’s Shackles, you can go pick a fight with Margit. When the fight starts, if you activate Margit’s Shackles, Margit will be temporarily rooted to the ground, allowing you to get a few free hits on him. There are a couple of rules for the use of the Shackles you should remember:

• Margit’s Shackles can only be used twice in a single fight against Margit.
• Margit’s Shackles can only be used in the first phase of the fight before Margit pulls out his giant hammer.

If you still end up getting killed by Margit, don’t worry; Margit’s Shackles are not consumed upon use, so you can use them again if you go fight him again.
