What is the Age of Absolute Ending in Elden Ring?

What is the Age of Absolute Ending in Elden Ring?

Here’s something interesting to ponder: Elden Ring is an absolutely gigantic game, but the development of any game involves both the implementation and removal of various concepts and mechanics. This means that, in addition to the gigantic Elden Ring we already know, there is potentially an entire game’s worth of scrapped, dumped, or dummied out content lurking somewhere within the game’s code. That’s a whole lotta Elden Ring. One such example of this allegedly dumped content is the recently uncovered seventh ending. So, what is the Age of Absolute ending in Elden Ring?

What is the Age of Absolute Ending in Elden Ring?

Elden Ring’s main story only has six potential endings, but recently, a YouTube modder named Garden of Eyes claimed to have uncovered a seventh ending, with both the ending itself and the questline leading up to having apparently been scrapped from the game.

This ending, named the Age of Absolute ending based on the seemingly official narration voiceover that plays over it, shows a Tarnished praying in front of a gigantic hand made up of both the Three Fingers and the Two Fingers, the two powerful entities that speak for Elden Ring’s outer gods. Here’s the million-dollar question, though: is this seventh ending the genuine article?

Unfortunately, the answer to that question is no, it’s not. If you’ll take a look at your calendar down at the bottom of your screen there, you’ll note that today is April 1st, April Fools’ Day. Yep, this whole seventh ending thing was just an elaborate hoax created by Garden of Eyes, as they admitted in their video’s comments this morning. The whole “Five Fingers” thing is just a fan theory that they decided to take a crack at implementing into the game proper, but as of now, it’s neither legit nor canon.

However, there was one part of this hoax that was actually for real: the narrator’s voiceover. Garden of Eyes actually did find a voiced clip of the game’s narrator saying “Age Absolute,” which, based on their digging, is apparently an alternate take for the game’s Age of Order ending. So it’s not the seventh ending, but a different interpretation of an existing ending! Neat.
