Dying Light 2 Multiplayer and Co-Op Features

Dying Light 2 Multiplayer and Co-Op Features

In a zombie apocalypse, there are positives and negatives to teaming up with other survivors. Teaming up ensures that you have someone watching your back to pull you out of a tangle of corpses, but you also have a higher chance of some moron getting bit and not telling anyone about it. If that’s not a deterrent for you, then you’ll probably be more enthused about playing the upcoming Dying Light 2 with some trusted friends. Here are the multiplayer and co-op features in Dying Light 2.

Dying Light 2 Multiplayer and Co-Op Features

Much like the original Dying Light, Dying Light 2 will feature online co-op multiplayer for its campaign. The interesting thing about Dying Light 2’s campaign is that the decisions you make in the story will alter the game world in both subtle and more overt manners. If you host a game yourself, you can have up to three friends join you for co-op play at once, but it’ll still be your campaign, and you’ll still have the ultimate say on how the story proceeds. On the flip side, if you join someone else’s campaign, you’ll be able to see how their world panned out with the choices that they made. It’s a handy way to experience multiple facets of the story without having to play through the whole game again yourself (or watch a walkthrough on YouTube).

At the moment, the basic co-op functionality is all we really know about, but we can hypothesize a couple of features based on what was present in the first game. In the original Dying Light, if you were feeling saucy, you could “invade” other players’ games as a zombie and try to take them down, though this feature wasn’t available at launch.

The original Dying Light also had special “zombie hunt” events on occasion, where you and your co-op buddies could earn limited-edition loot by hunting down special, super-tough zombies. Again, though, this wasn’t a base game feature.

It’s a safe bet that the devs will gradually expand on the multiplayer content of Dying Light 2 post-launch, but for the moment, it’s mostly just about the campaign sharing stuff.
