Godfall is a new action RPG from Counterplay Games, published by Gearbox Publishing. The game is available as a PlayStation 5 launch title, as well as on the PC, on November 12, 2020. The game takes place in a high fantasy setting, where realms consist of Earth, Water, Air, Fire, and Spirit. The players’ power comes from the use of Valorplates, powerful pieces of armor infused with elements. Many players looking to buy the game are wondering if Godfall has co-op and split-screen elements. Here’s everything you need to know about Godfall’s multiplayer options.
Does Godfall have co-op and split-screen?
Godfall does have co-op multiplayer mode, but it is online only. There is no split-screen support for local couch co-op. Players must have an internet connection for both solo and co-op play. There is no matchmaking feature at this time, so you’ll need to invite your friends directly from in-game, whether via Epic Games or the PlayStation friends tab.
After playing Godfall in co-op mode on launch day and the subsequent days for about eight hours, we can tell you some issues exist. First of all, it is common for the party to eventually disband on its own. Whether this is after each realm completion or a major boss fight, we’re not sure. We do know that the game will often display a message saying something like you need to be in a party to invite someone to a party.
To resolve this issue, both players should restart Godfall completely. We experience this issue primarily on PC, so I wanted to give you guys a heads up if you’re planning to play with friends.
Yes, Godfall supports up to three players in co-op multiplayer mode. You can complete the game with anywhere between one to three players. There is no split-screen local play, and it’s online only.
