The Manticore Exotic won’t be breaking any METAs any time soon – it’s honestly not all that good. However, it is one of the most unique and fun Exotics we’ve gotten in a long time, so it’s still definitely worth getting.

To get the Manticore Exotic Submachine Gun in Destiny 2, you need to unlock it on the Season 19 season pass. There’s no other way to earn it in-game – it has to come from the season pass. So, once that pass is gone, so are your chances of earning it. That is, unless you buy the premium season pass and redeem it as a reward through the Companion app.

The good news is that you don’t need to purchase the season pass to get the Manticore. If you did purchase the pass, you’ll have access to it immediately. Otherwise, you’ll have to wait. Premium pass holders get it as a tier-one reward on the pass. If you’re only on a free season pass, you’ll unlock the Manticore at tier 35.

The Manticore’s Exotic perk is called “Soaring Fang.” It states that dealing damage while grounded charges anti-grav thrusters while dealing damage while airborne extends them. What does that mean?

Well, this Exotic comes with a little bar representing the fuel in your anti-gravity thrusters where your buffs and debuffs appear. When you have charge in this bar, firing at an enemy while airborne will hold you in place. The Manticore also has a perk called “Swooping Talons” that increases its damage while airborne.

So, it’s an Exotic that lets you hover, essentially. It’s a whole lot of fun, but it’s not very good at a META level. Don’t let that stop you from having any fun with it, though.
