The Goblin Caves were recently added to Dark and Darker with its latest public test event update. The caves of the goblin variety behave as the solo queue for Dark and Darker. What this means is when you’re tired of carrying your two friends you can just queue into the solo dungeon by yourself, except there’s a catch. Tons of goblins and other terrifying enemies will be there to attack you just as you’re used to, but there will also be human players out to survive and kill you for your loot.
In Dark and Darker players are spawned onto a map and each time the entry and exit points will be entirely generated. On the flip side for the solo mode, the game generates random loot, encounters, exits and spawn points. What makes the solo mode so interesting is the breadth of the map and the interesting locations across the whole area.

The Map
North
Watch your back if you spawn here. There will be a lot of goblin warriors in the vicinity who have poison blades in hand so make sure that you don’t get hit by them. A Goblin Mage can also be found in the area with you. Dance carefully while keeping your eye on the North Eastern side of the room where another player usually spawns.
North East
There is a random chest that will spawn here so if you’re lucky enough to spawn close to the North East side of the goblin map, rush the chest. There are two floors here and the chest will be on the bottom. But to gain access you need to approach it from the top doorway, we know, confusing.
North West
Despite not having as many goblins, this area is the most dangerous one of the Northern quadrants. There’s a chest here that is protected by some goblins, obviously. You can sneak by and get it without them taking notice pretty easily. But the biggest things you need to be aware of are the dragonflies, beetles, spiders and traps.
East
The usual suspects are here in the Jail plus Goblin Archers. Make sure to watch out for the zombies too. Luckily if you spawn in the Jail you will have a dead body to loot who will hopefully have something worthwhile. The secret escape portal will also be close. It can only be accessed when the dungeon timer is about to end, though. Only one player can access the secret portal. Once it’s used it will be crushed by rocks.
Troll Cave Entrance
We wonder what’s in here. A troll! Gotta pay the troll toll. This is a usual room full of things that do not want you to be alive. Once you make your way through the death mobs and traps there’s a giant stone door at the bottom of some steps. Behind the door is the troll who will drop Troll Blood. Troll Blood grants a 1hp recovery for 100 seconds but will decrease your move speed by 20.
West
This one has nothing of note. If you spawn here, stay quiet and just don’t get killed by the mobs.
South
Goblin warriors and archers with their new friend the mummy live here. If you defeat them you can find a shrine of protection. In this room will also be a treasure chest for you to loot.
South West
Ahhhh, goblins! But also ore. Lots of ore. This is the best place to get your hands on Cobalt and Ruby Silver. If you aren’t the first to spawn here there’s probably no chance you will get ore unless it’s off the body of an enemy. There’s also chest here that you can access if you are lucky enough.
South East
There are a handful of chests that will spawn here. Amazing loot to be found as long as you don’t get killed by the mummy and his goblin fans. Easily the best spawn in the game in our opinion due to the rewards here initially.
