Dark and Darker has some grizzly monsters and brutish beasts roaming the dungeons for you to stumble into. A difficult game, you will most likely die at the behest of these monsters the first time you run into them. But when it comes to the Cave Troll, you may find yourself dying a little more often. Here’s how to defeat and farm the Cave Troll in Dark and Darker.
How to beat the cave troll in Dark and Darker
In Dark and Darker, The Cave Troll is the boss in The Goblin Caves, located in the middle of the map. Only one Cave Troll will spawn, and it is one of the strongest monsters in that map. There are two approaches for felling the Cave Troll, depending on whether you are a ranged or melee build. The ranged build is heavily recommended for this fight.

The ranged approach
The Cave Troll is a blundering enemy that will stomp towards players and swing his club around. For avid gamers, the ranged approach will already be very clear. You’ll need a lot of arrows, though. The monster will walk toward the player and will attempt a swing. All you must do is retreat a safe distance and pepper it with arrows or spells, then retreat some more. Just keep moving backwards, and the Cave Troll will have no option but to keep following you.
The melee approach
This one’s a little trickier, with little room for error. Thankfully, the Cave Troll’s attack roster is easy to read and react against. You will want a shield handy, as the animations are slow and you can pivot your shield to block most of the time. If the Cave Troll grips his weapon with two hands, just dodge and dash away, otherwise you’ll be hit with quite a lot of damage to the head.
Keep hitting it whenever you can, just remain alert to the beast’s movements and react accordingly with your shield or a dodge.
Farming the Cave Troll in Dark and Darker
The Cave Troll drops Troll’s Blood, a valuable item. Only one Cave Troll will spawn each time you tackle the dungeon. So simply beeline for the middle of the map, where it spawns, defeat it in combat and then leave. You’ll have to keep doing this if you want to farm Troll’s Blood.
