Cities: Skylines Remastered: Release Date, All Platforms, Everything to Know

Get ready to build a city once again.

Longtime fans of the city sim genre know about Cities: Skylines. About a decade ago, the game was born from the negative reception of the then-recent Sim City. It received positive reviews and praise compared to that game upon release. Since then the game has been released and received several updates and versions. The game started on PC but has since come to the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Now, a remastered game will be coming this week. In this guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about this upcoming version of the game.

Cities: Skylines Remastered Release Date, Platforms, and Additional Details

Cities: Skylines Remastered is a new version of the game made for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S designed to take full advantage of the capabilities of both consoles. This version of the game will be available on February 15th for $39.99. Those who currently own the game and all of its DLC on PS4 or Xbox One will receive the remastered version for free upon release in addition to remastered versions of the DLC, excluding anything after the Airports expansion. These remastered DLCs will come out in the next few months.

In a press release, Paradox Interactive mentioned the following as features in this remastered version:

  • 25 buildable tiles – that’s 16 additional tiles from Cities: Skylines on Xbox One and PlayStation®4!
  • Quick selection tool
  • UX Improvements, such as precision placements, distance indicator and updated snapping options
  • New environmental controls panel allowing players to adjust time of day, rain, fog, and environment coloring
  • Map editor 
  • An overall graphic performance increase
