I’m a quite simple man. I see an RPG with a SNES aesthetic, and then I will be profoundly interested. Well, apparently I’m not the only one, since these type of games have resurged in popularity (one can argue, they never went out of the mainstream) and have always gathered quite a following. This is the case of Chained Echoes. Explore the lands of Valandis and fight quite an assortment of enemies. All of this with a great story as the cherry on top of the cake. And being an RPG, you know what that means: countless hours of content and side quest. This article will address one of the end game side quests in Chained Echoes. Here is the No Place For Happy Endings side quest guide for Chained Echoes. Let’s go!
No Place for Happy Endings Side Quest Guide
Oh, the daddy issues intensify. You see, Robb has, some issues with his father, and he is not the only one. You will pick up this mission after the end of the game that follows the storyline of the former vassal of Robb’s father, Thoma. She is not happy and wants sweet revenge and, well, Robb has to sort things out with his pops. Here is the No Place for Happy Endings guide. Quite an eerie name, but let us see what this side quest brings to the table, shall we?
- After completing the main quest called Chained Echoes, head to Flandern in the Kortara Mountain Range. Head to the Fast Travel Crystal to watch a cutscene between Robb and Lord Gustaf, his father. Things will get pretty intense and non-friendly in an instant.
- You will then go to a house in eastern Rockbottom. You will encounter Thoma who will join you in a mission to get rid of Robb’s father. She will help you enter the Rymeier Castle, located in northwest Kortara Mountain Range.
- Once inside, you will fight a Flandern Mage and Flandern Soldier. Take out the Mage first and you’ll be good to go.
- Before crossing the bridge, look to the left, and you will see a chest containing a Devil’s Head. Pick it up before proceeding. Check the right side of the bridge as well to find a path that will take you to a cave containing a chest. You will find a Silver Bolero. Continue the pathway to enter the courtyard.
- There will be a lot of doors and some stairs. Here is what you will find in each door:
- The first door on the west will lead you to the ramparts, where you will find three Titan Leathers in a chest.
- The door located to the left of the main stairs leads you to a fight with three Soldiers and a Mage. Once they have been dealt with, continue the pathway up to, you guessed it, the ramparts. Continue the way through, and you will find a door on the right that leads you to a pathway, heading to a door again that will let you access the castle and effectively saving you a fight. Follow the pathway and then a ledge to a golden box containing a Soul of Farnese. In case you are wondering, yes, you can go back from here thanks to a cave that will take you to the castle entrance.
- The door located on the right side of the main stairs is the way you take back from the golden box.
- The last door on the east, located in the courtyard, leads you to a fight with, again, three Soldiers and a Mage. You will be rewarded with a chest containing Adamantite. You will find some stairs that will take you to the roof and to a red chest containing a Rhongomiant. Take a right from the chest and you will find a ledge that leads you to the courtyard.
- Now that you have gathered all the items you can, go ahead and head up the main stairs. You will fight two Soldiers and two Mages. Continue heading up and then cross the ramparts to the east until you drop to find a door that leads you to Gustaf’s throne room.
- Although prepared for a battle, eventually Robb and his father will talk and will come to terms with each other. Wholesome, right? Well, hold on, because Thoma will not be very amused by this “treachery”. You will be betrayed by her and she will attack the party.
- You will face Thoma and his Bandit for a second time. It is quite similar to the first battle, indeed: expect melee attacks and the occasional Thoma bomb. Take care of the Bandit as soon as possible, and then debuff Thoma’s agility to prevent her from throwing bombs. You will get rid of them both in no time.
- As a reward, you will be granted both a Grimoire Shard and a Rusty Bow. You have succesfully completed the No Place for Happy Endings side quest.
