Can You Replay Missions in GTA 5?

It's time to return to the jungle.

It’s been nearly a decade since GTA 5 was released. Since then, the game has become the most profitable piece of media ever released. It has also been released on multiple consoles and received a PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X port earlier this summer. If you’ve bought the game more than once, you’ve spent a lot of time replaying missions in the game. This is a feature that fans wanted in GTA 4 because they wanted to replay the bank heist mission. It is present in GTA 5. Here is how you access it.

How to Replay Missions in GTA 5

To replay a mission in GTA 5, you’ll first have to pause the game. Next, scroll over to the Game tab and select Replay Mission. From here you can select and replay any mission you’ve previously completed. Once you select a mission, the game will give you a warning saying that it will create a restore point that you will be returned to once the mission you’re replaying has ended. If you agree to this, you’ll be transported to the mission start point.

The downside to replaying missions is that it doesn’t affect campaign progress and you can’t earn any money. The only thing that can be earned are medals which count toward getting 100% completion in GTA 5. When trying to get a gold medal for a mission, you don’t have to do it perfectly. If you got a poor score on an objective, you can replay the mission just for that objective. If your score for that objective is improved during your replay, you’ll get a better medal than you did the last time.

If you’re playing GTA 5 for the first time, this feature may be helpful if you can’t wait for GTA 6 and are craving more GTA. There are 69 missions in the campaign so you’ll have plenty to replay if you do end up favoring some over others.
