When it comes to playing games on a Mac as opposed to a computer that runs Windows or even Linux, it always seems to be an uphill battle to get a lot of games to run. Lately, Ancient Forge Studio’s own The Tenants has been a title that Mac users have been wanting to play on their own machines.

Though software like Steam now works on all M1 and M2 Apple Silicone Macbooks and Macs, some games still just don’t seem to make the jump over for one reason or another, computer minimum specs are often the center of the issue though many devs just don’t port the games over at all. But, the good news is that there is a way to play The Tenants on Mac, and we can explain how!

How to Play The Tenants on Mac

Before getting into how you can actually play The Tenants on Mac, it’s important to note that while this is a workaround and can work for some folks, the method I’m going to talk about here may not work on your system for one reason or another. This method is the only way we’ve found to be able to play The Tenants on Mac. So, now with all of that out of the way, let’s explain how to actually play the game on a Mac!

You’ll actually need to have both Steam downloaded onto your Mac as well as a software called Crossover in order to play. For a shortened synopsis; Crossover is software that allows you to use certain other software that is only available for Windows and/or Linux. So installing this software should allow you to play The Tenants on a Mac, in theory. Crossover is a paid app so be aware of that when going into this.

  • To get started, just install CrossOver, and boot it up.
  • Next, select “Install Windows Application” at the bottom of the screen.
  • Search for Steam and install your desired install.
  • Right-click the Steam download from the “Bottle” section and select install software into it.
  • Next, search and install DXVK. (This helps to render the game properly)
  • Then search and install DirectX for Modern Games.
  • Your last bit on this end is going to be to right-click Steam once more, toggle to settings, then DXVK Backend for D3D11
  • Next, sign into your Steam account and locate The Tenants and begin downloading it.
  • Finally, go ahead and play the game!
