It would not be a Harry Potter game if there were no Dragons included in either a Quest or open-world exploration. Avalanche Software delivers by giving players exactly what they wanted, two Main Quests specifically with a Dragon. In these Quest, players will find and obtain the Dragon Egg. However the main objective that players must complete is to return the egg to its original owner, the Dragon. But is there a way to keep the Dragon Egg? We have the answer below.

Can you Keep the Egg?

The Dragon Egg is obtained by completing the Fire and Vice Quest. You will gain access to this Quest upon completing the Charles Rookwood Trials. This is just part one of two Quests around the Egg that you will have collected as a result of completing the ‘Fire and Vice’ Quest. These Quests focus around your interaction with Poppy, from taking the egg, to returning it to the Dragon. After completing ‘Fire and Vice’ you can move onto ‘Poached Egg’ where the main objective is to get to the Dragon Nest to return the Egg to its rightful place.

Whilst you may assume that if you do not complete this Quest, the Egg will remain in your possession. However this is false. As this is a Main Questline with Poppy, you must complete the second Quest ‘Poached Egg’ in order to progress through the story. Nothing you do can stop this Quest from being skipped or ignored. You have to complete it in order to get to the next Main Questline within Hogwarts Legacy.

The Dragon Egg remains with you as you complete other Quests before interacting with Poppy once more to obtain the ‘Poached Egg’ Quest. At that point, you cannot do anything with the Egg. No displaying it in the Common Room to show off or trying to incubate for the hatching process. The Egg must be returned to its mother. For those playing the ‘Poached Egg’ Quest, be sure to hide behind cover as you slowly approach the Dragon. Otherwise you will get torched just trying to do the right thing for once.
