The key to being good at Way of the Hunter is knowing the best weapons and gear. Obviously, in a hunting simulator, there is no cutting corners. Know the best guns for the best scenarios and the best gear to make those guns stronger. It should also be said, if you want an arcade experience, these are not the games for you. They take patience and a general understanding of the sport of hunting. That said, once you get good at it, it becomes near impossible to put down. And hunting in a video game is a lot less messy than real life.

Best All Around Rifles
Steyr Scout
Steyr Monoblanc
Just an overall great rifle up close or at a distance. The Scout models offer higher carry capacity, while the Monoblanc offers higher range accuracy. Either one is not likely to let you down, though.
Best Gear For Long Range Shots
Leupold VX-3HD 4.5-14X40
Overgaard Long Range 3-15X50
The Overgaard is best for really long range shots, while the Leupold is better for slightly closer positions. But if you plan on shooting long range (which you’ll have to) these two pieces of gear are where it’s at.
Best Shotguns
Morning Silence
Hol-Den the Jack 1502
Both shotties are very responsive, respectively, let it be known the Morning Silence is semi-automatic. Yup, you read that correctly. It also holds four bullets, so it’s not a tough sell.
Some Other Hunting Tips
Remember to try to go for one-shots and heart shots over head shots. They are more likely to kill. The wind is your enemy or your best friend, work with it. Aiming down the sights at over 150 meters and you begin to lose accuracy quickly. If it takes more than one shot, follow the blood trail. You know, basic hunter stuff.
What makes Way of The Hunter so compelling is just how real it is. While it may take some time to master, once you are in the zone, there is nothing quite like it out there right now.
