Best Stasis Hunter Build in Destiny 2 Lightfall

Is Stasis old-school now?

This Destiny 2 Lightfall Stasis Hunter build is a personal favorite of mine. It’s my second most-used build behind Void Hunter, so it’s been tried and tested. Grandmasters, Master Raids, Heist Battlegrounds – whatever you want to run, this build will make it possible.

I’ll be going through what I consider to be the best Stasis Hunter build for Destiny 2 Lightfall. I’ll go over Aspects, Fragments, and even throw in a few weapon recommendations on top.

Aspects

  • Touch of Winter.

Shatterdive is a PvP Aspect, which means this PvE Stasis Hunter build has no choice in what Aspects it runs. Not that it matters, though – because the two leftovers are incredible. Starting with Touch of Winter, this is one of those grenade-based Aspects that modifies the effect of your class grenades.

In our case, we’re interested in it because of how it changes Duskfield Grenades. Touch of Winter increases the radius of the Duskfield dome and spawns a small Stasis crystal in the middle of it upon activation.

Beyond the obvious effect of being able to hit more enemies, these modifications to our grenade actually have multiple benefits hidden inside some of the other Stasis kit we’re running.

  • Grim Harvest.

Grim Harvest gives us a massive three Fragment slots to play with – which is insane because it’s probably the best Stasis Hunter Aspect. It makes any Slowed or Frozen combatants we’ve killed spawn Stasis Shards.

Stasis Shards are the heart and soul of any self-respecting Stasis build, and this is the single best way to spawn them in the entire game.

You’ll be amplifying the effectiveness of your Stasis Shards through your Fragment loadout. By the end of this Stasis Hunter build, you’ll be getting so many buffs you won’t be able to keep track of them.

Beyond those Fragments, the only important pieces of ability kit are Duskfield Grenades. These nades are incredible, and we’re investing a fair bit into buffing them with this build – so make sure you’re using them.

Fragments

  • Whisper of Durance.

Whisper of Durance’s value is two-fold. First and foremost, it makes Slows from our abilities last longer. This means you’ll have more effective add-control, and a more forgiving time window to turn those Slowed enemies into Stasis Shards.

Secondly, it makes our lingering abilities last longer. This works in tandem with Touch of Winter, further increasing the effectiveness of our Duskfield Grenades.

  • Whisper of Fissures.

When you defeat a Frozen enemy or destroy a Stasis Crystal, they explode and deal damage to nearby enemies. Whisper of Fissures increases the size of that explosion, which is important because we need enemies Slowed and Frozen for Grim Harvest.

On top of that, if you run the Exotic weapon I’m recommending in this Destiny 2 Lightfall Stasis Hunter build – everything will be Frozen, all the time, giving you even more value out of this Fragment.

  • Whisper of Shards.

Whisper of Shards is a surprisingly powerful Fragment that plays into our grenade-regeneration engine. With it, shattering a Stasis Crystal will temporarily increase your grenade regen rate, and not by an insignificant amount, either.

Duskfields are a major part of why this build is so effective, so anytime that keeps them online is important.

  • Whisper of Rime.

I can only assume that Whisper of Rime is a staple on most Stasis builds. With it, collecting a Stasis Shard will give us a temporary Overshield, with that shield refreshed every time we pick up another Shard.

Grim Harvest means that most enemies we kill will turn into Shards, meaning we should pretty much always have an Overshield online with this Fragment.

  • Whisper of Conduction.

Last but not least, we have something really simple in Whisper of Conduction. All this Fragment does is make our Stasis Shards track to our position, similarly to Seeking Wells.

Given that enemies are our source of Shards – this means you don’t have to go diving headfirst into a group of adds to collect them. You just sit back and watch them come to you.

Gear

Best Stasis Hunter Build in Destiny 2 Lightfall - Renewal Grasps.

I have two Exotic armor recommendations for this build – and one Exotic weapon recommendation, along with some Legendary weapon alternatives.

Starting with armor, you have these two options:

  • Star-Eater Scales.
  • Renewal Grasps.

Star-Eater Scales would be the obvious go-to. Stasis Hunters don’t have much in the way of powerful Exotics, but this one amplifies your Silence and Squall super to pretty extreme heights. It’s the standard, safe pick – but not the one I recommend.

Personally, I love Renewal Grasps. They make your Duskfield even larger and allow them to be used offensively and defensively. It modifies them so that enemies inside the Duskfield deal less damage, and any allies in the field take reduced damage. This is incredible – and useful even on Grandmaster difficulty.

If neither of those is your cup of tea, Frostees are always a safe bet.

Weapon-wise, I obviously have to recommend Ager’s Scepter. This Stasis Trace rifle fires a beam that slows nearby targets on final blows – letting it seamlessly integrate itself into our Stasis Hunter engine. It’s also a special ammo weapon, meaning you can run an effective double-special setup.

If you don’t want to go that route – anything with Headstone is great. Prolonged Engagement, in particular, should be a weapon you hunt for.
