Best Pokemon to Defeat Tera Charizard: Azumarill, Dachsbun and Sylveon

How to Evolve Azurill into Azumarill

The first step of the evolution line is to evolve Azurill into Marill. Players can do this by getting the happiness value of Azurill to 220. Methods to do this quickly are a combination of Soothe Bells, battling and using the Picnic function. Upon evolving Azurill into Marill, players then need to level Marill up to Level 18 to get Azumarill. The goal with this Pokémon evolution line is to reach the final form of Azumarill. The reasoning for this is because of its move sets and abilities against Fire and Steel moves which Charizard will likely have. Azumarill is currently the best option to use against Charizard, especially if Charizard’s fourth move is a Steel move such as Iron Tail.

Where to Find Azurill – Map and Location

Azurill is located in the Southern provinces. This Pokémon is very easy to find and can be captured within the first hour of playing the game. Players should search the provinces: South (Area One) and South (Area Two). Specifically, players should search the outskirts of Cortondo and Los Platos to find Azurill. Azurill is very low level in these areas so it will be very easy to pick this Pokémon up. The screenshot below is of the outskirts of Los Platos, where players can find low level Azurill here.

Azumarill can be found and captured in West Province (Area Three), along the river. For players wanting to skip the evolution line, pick up an Azumarill in this area and set your course on getting this Pokémon the move Belly Drum. We recommend players pick up the Fairy Tera Azumarill located in the Casseroya Lake. This is best for players that are much further in the game, with higher level Pokémon (Level 50+). However, we recommend that if players were to skip the evolution process of Azurill, that they capture the Tera Fairy Pokémon here at Casseroya Lake. The screenshot below is of an exact location of the Tera Azumarill.

How to Teach Azumarill Belly Drum and Aqua Jet

To get Belly Drum, players need to catch Makuhita and level this Pokémon to Level 25 or evolve into Hariyama at Level 24. Both pokemon will learn Belly Drum at Level 25. Players can find Makuhita very early in the game, like the other Pokémon in this guide. Players should search West Province (Area One) and South Province (Area Two) for Makuhita. The average level of a wild Makuhita here is Level 18.

To get Aqua Jet, players need to catch Marill. You can either evolve Azurill with a high happiness value or capture Marill in the wild. Marill can be found in South Province (Area Five) along the river.

Upon levelling up Makuhita/Hariyama to Level 25, this Pokémon will now have Belly Drum. Players need to buy the Mirror Herb in the Delibird Presents shop in Cascarrafa. Give the Mirror Herb to Azumarill to hold. In your active party you need Azumarill, Marill (has Aqua Jet at Level 19) and Makuhita/Hariyama. Remove two moves from Azumarill (if it does not have the move Aqua Jet) making it a two-move set Pokémon. Finally, set up a Picnic anywhere with these Pokémon in your active party. By doing this, Azumarill will pick up the moves Belly Drum from Makuhita/Hariyama and Aqua Jet from Marill.

How to Evolve Fidough into Dachsbun

Fidough is one of the simpler Pokémon to evolve into its stronger form. All players need to do here is level up Fidough to Level 26 to evolve into Dachsbun. Fidough is a great defensive option to use against Charizard. Unlike the other suggestions, Dachsbun’s unique ability called Well-Baked Body is extremely helpful against Fire-Type Pokémon as it takes no damage from Fire moves. In fact, when a Fire move is activated, Dachsbun’s defence is boosted.

However, whilst this is a great ability to have against Charizard, if the fourth move of its set is a Steel move, such as Iron Tail, Metal Claw or Steel Wing then Dachsbun will be taken out very quickly. This is why Azumarill is at the top of the list when it comes to beating Charizard.

Where to Find Fidough – Map and Locations

The main areas to find Fidough are in the southern provinces (Area One and Two). Just like Azurill, Fidough can be captured very early in the game and is also a low-level Pokémon. This means that both Azurill and Fidough can be great starting Pokémon. Players need to invest time into these Pokémon to level them up in preparation for Tera Pokémon Charizard. We recommend that players search for Fidough at the same time of searching for Azurill as they can be found in the same southern spots. Both Fidough and Azurill are located outside of Los Platos and Cortondo. The image below shows the same placement of Azurill, both can be found south-east of Los Platos.

How to Evolve Eevee into Sylveon

The final option for fighting Charizard is Sylveon. To evolve Eevee into Sylveon, players must get the happiness value of Eevee to 160. Not only this but, Eevee must be taught a Fairy-Type move. The moves Eevee can get are Baby-Doll Eyes (Level 15) and Charm (Level 45). Having either one of these moves in Eevee’s move set when evolving at happiness value 160 will give you Sylveon.

With Sylveon obtained, add the Play Rough move to its move set. To do this, players must find the Play Rough TM. Find the Play Rough TM in South Province (Area One), south of Los Platos (refer to screenshot below). Players need their legendary Pokémon Miraridon and Koraidon to have the climbing ability. To get this ability, players will have to beat the False Dragon Titan in Path of Legends. This is the fifth and final Titan.

Where to Find Eevee- Map and Locations

Eevee is located in the route to the Pokémon League, outside of Mesagoza and in the provinces: West (Area Three) and South (Area Two). Players can pick Eevee up very early in the game, although this Pokémon is the hardest to find out of the three. Search the Olive Fields in South Province (Area Two), just outside of Cortondo. Players could also find Fidough and Azurill in this nearby area of the outskirts of Cortondo. Unlike Arceus’s display of Eevee, this Pokémon is much friendlier and does not run away. This makes it much easier for players to catch this Pokémon.

Take your time and move slowly through the fields to search for Eevee as this Pokémon is small and easy to miss. It may take a few repeated walk throughs of the Olive Fields to find Eevee. To increase your chances of finding Eevee, players can make a Ham sandwich and use the Picnic function. This will increase the Normal Pokémon-Type encounter chances.

Conclusion

The important note for preparing for the fight against Charizard is that the current best Pokémon to use is Fairy-Type Pokémon. Players will want the moves of Play Rough for Azumarill, Dachsbun and Sylveon, and Belly Drum for Azumarill. It goes without saying that these Pokémon should be a very high level to take on the Tera Boss Charizard.
