Best Games Similar to Hi-Fi Rush

Hi-Fi Rush has blown us away. In need of a similar gaming experience to it?

Hi-Fi Rush has taken the online and gaming spaces by storm with a sudden release drop near on as soon as it was announced. With such thrilling visual work and addictive gameplay loops, Hi-Fi Rush has not only turned heads upon its release but has already snatched up one of the earliest expectancies to be one of the best performing video games of 2023 already. With all of us being quite literally blown away by the product in question, here are a few games you should play right after experiencing it.

Recommended Videos

Jet Set Radio

This recommendation needs no introduction, nor require much to be said about its similarities to Hi-Fi Rush. Being one of the many various titles that Hi-Fi Rush gives a shout-out to as visually illustrated by its striking main menu screen being a direct reference to Jet Set Radio’s very own one, it goes without saying that it was one of the key contributors to its inspiration. Jet Set Radio is just as fun and chaotic as one of SEGA’s most iconic titles under their belt. If you have yet to play it, what are you waiting for?

Sayonara Wild Hearts

Sayonara Wild Hearts takes you on a ride – literally – in one of the most stunning of any musical adventure game as a full-on example of an interactive pop album. Take on bosses, chase a high score and restore harmony to its heartbroken world in this short and stylized, psychedelic dream world. It’s visually stupendous whilst tugging at the heart strings and leaving a lasting impact on the player for how cathartic of an experience it is. Both games were always bound to make an impression on the player with one look of them.

No Straight Roads

No Straight Roads has an engrossing world designed and is shaped by all things musically themed, all the way down to its unique character designs, landscapes and worldbuilding. Featuring a unique art direction, a wholly original soundtrack that will have you repeating it for months on end and extremely clever boss fights that captures how masterfully an action and rhythm based system can come together, No Straight Roads costs little for the extreme amount of satisfaction one can get from it. It also runs similarly to Hi-Fi Rush with its exploration/platforming segments.

Sunset Overdrive

Sunset Overdrive is what I immediately think of when I look at Hi-Fi Rush rather than the obvious Jet Set Radio. Giving players full rein to parkour their way around a highly stylized, apocalyptic open world landscape where all of your quirky weapons can be customized, the one and only goal here is to simply wreck as much havoc as possible. Make a mess and be proud of it to make the most of the sheer possible spectacle levels the game can offer.

Muse Dash

Featuring bombastic visuals with a unique gameplay loop of bringing both rhythm and parkour together to make something fresh and unique, Muse Dash is as much of a spectacle as Hi-Fi Rush is. Muse Dash’s overwhelming positive reception is easy to see why what with an overall laid back design that can become as challenging as the player wants it to be, absolutely incredible music tracks and a stunning overall package thanks to its particular design quirks. Easy on the eye is a fitting description for both games, only for different reasons.

A Musical Story

A Musical Story is the most chilled out experience recommendation we have for the list, as well as being the most emotional. Clocking in at the least amount of time needed to clear it (but not in perfecting it which will double its length in re-runs) and featuring no amount of combat, the entire point of A Musical Story is reminding its player character, Gabriel, of his past and memories. With incredible storytelling just from its visuals alone, A Musical Story captures the past of the 1970s and is simply gorgeous to both look at and listen to.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk may be quite the premature pick considering it still has yet to release, but it is arguably the closest in artistic direction as Hi-Fi Rush. Also being just as similarly inspired by Jet Set Radio as a modern tribute to it, players make up a crew of their own to fight in graffiti/parkour based matches. Honing in on making a brilliant single player experience which saw its release date get pushed back to this year, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is a title well worth keeping an eye on for this year.
