Best Companions for Evil Playthrough in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)

A vampire, cult priest, and gityanki are the perfect recipe for a bad time.

Part of what makes the companions you recruit in Baldur’s Gate 3 good characters, is the ability to form the character however you see fit. While most RPGs give you characters that are steadfast in their ways and beliefs, BG3 does not. In fact, some characters prefer certain actions and will approve, or disapprove, or certain actions you perform during your campaign. And if you’re looking to be the most evil creature this side of the gate, you’ll need some equally evil companions. So let’s make a pact and take a look at the best companions for evil playthrough in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3).

Companions in BG3 are thought of as extra NPC support on the battlefield. If you don’t have 4 people in your party, you’ll be able to fill those empty slots with intricate and in-depth characters. Each companion comes equipped with everything a normal created character would, except players can find them throughout the world. Doing so and playing your cards right, might just end up having them tag along and help you on your journey to Baldur’s Gate, and even have a questline themselves. There are a total of 10 companions as of the games full release, and finding the right group of malicious monsters can be tricky.

For your best rag-tag team to bring villainous ventures down on the world, you’ll want to go with Shadowheart, Lae’zel, and Astarion. You’ll learn that all of these characters have a troubled past, making each character easily corruptible, which is where you come in. Thanks to how companions work in this game, players can manipulate their party members to a certain degree. For example if you decide to reinforce Shadowhearts beliefs in Shar, she’ll continue down her path of darkness. Asterion on the other hand, wants to do indecent things with people while gripping their necks with his teeth. Something you can help him with, further enabling Asterion to feed his dark side. These are just a few instances, but the three of them will truly help you wreak havoc on the innocent.
