10 Best Brotato Mods

Brotato, meet mods.

Who doesn’t love a good roguelite these days? And with so many releasing, it’s great when certain ones stand out amongst the pack. One such title is Blobfish Studios’ own Brotato. It’s a cute little title with adorable characters. But, don’t let its cuteness fool you, as these different spuds that you’ll play with are true killing machines.

Top Brotato Mods

Star Wars Mod

Starting off our list is a personal favorite of mine. This Star Wars mod will actually allow you to add tons of Star Wars-themed features into the game such as characters, weapons, and other items! Yes, you got it right, there are going to be lightsabers as well as a dozen of iconic characters from both sides.

You can play as General Grievous, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Clone Trooper, Leia, Darth Vader, Yoda, C-3PO, Stormtrooper, Boba Fett and Palpatine. When it comes to new and unique weapons this is what you’ll have at your disposal:

  • Force lightning
  • Force choke
  • Force push
  • Darth Vader’s Lightsaber
  • Kit Fisto’s lightsaber
  • Obi-Wan’s lightsaber
  • Yoda’s cane
  • DC-15A Blaster rifle
  • DC-15S Blaster carbine
  • EE-3 Blaster carbine
  • E-11 Blaster carbine
  • E-22 Blaster
  • Leia’s blaster

On top of that, you get 2 new stats: Force and Accuracy. Force is a new damage stat while Accuracy defines how much spread your ranged weapons will have.

My personal favorite was General Grievous’s lightsaber build. He is a character that can carry 9 weapons and once he starts swinging and spinning those 9 lightsabers, nobody can touch him!

Assassin Mod

Another great mod that adds some heft to Brotato is the Assassin mod. It’ll give you a dark story, new characters, weapons, and items, but even challenges to complete too. This mod somewhat leans on the original game so you wouldn’t feel like you’re playing a totally different thing, a feeling that some other mods can give you.

You will have access to 6 new original characters called Unstable, Outlaw, Cyborg, Terrorist, Commander, and Stress Eater. Their weapons of choice will be Chainsaw, Claws, Small Scythe, Blowgun, Scorching Sand Bottle and Diamond Crusher. When I think about it, the name “Horror mod” would be more appropriate for this variant of Brotato!

The mod also gives you 12 new items and 11 new challenges that reward you with new and unique items and boosts. If you’re a big fan of massacring your enemies in a horror movie style, this mod will be ideal for you!

Extatonion mod

The Extatonion mod is actually a pretty massive mod to add to Brotato. You get 39 new weapons, 54 new items, and 8 new characters, with the addition of new challenges and unlocks. The mod is looking to complement the original game instead of straying away from it with totally new content so if you’re a big fan of the original Brotato this mod will feel natural to you.

Even though there are too many novelties to name here we will mention that another unique thing about the Exatonion mod is that it brings 6 new weapon classes. These are Biological, Homing, Slashing, Insect, Summon and Tactical.

One of the recent updates has brought with it a pretty unexpected weapon – the drone. Your character gets to hold drone controllers instead of weapons and you will have these things fly around your head and shoot at aliens. It feels like a ranged weapon but at the same time it’s not so you’ll really have to try it to see whether it fits your playstyle!

Isaac Characters Mod

If you’re a fan of one of the iconic roguelike titles called The Binding of Isaac, then this Isaac Characters mod will be right up your alley. There are 6 new characters, 7 new weapons, and 13 new items that come along with this mod. The characters are:

  • Isaac
  • Cain
  • Judas
  • Magdalene
  • Keeper
  • Eden

New weapons include Icaac’s Tears, Number One, The Inner Eye, Mom’s Knife, Dark Arts, Godhead and Sacred Heart. They’re accompanied by items such as Bomb, Bloodshot Eye, Censer, Lucky Foot, Maggy’s Faith, Yum Heart, 8 Inch Nails, Bomb Bag, Belial Book, Eye of Greed, D6, Cricket’s Head, and Nuh Uh!

The mod is full of companions, unique placable items, and just plain weird weapons! We’ve tried a build with Isaac that uses 6 Isaac’s Tears (how convenient) which turned out to be balls of tears that your character just throws at aliens. Hilarious! Alongside that, I equipped the Bloodshot Eye companion that flies around and shoots at enemies which has proven to be a decent tactic that got me through many levels.

All Starting Weapons Mod

The All Starting Weapons mod is basically what it says – it allows you to have all starting weapons at your disposal, no matter which character you choose. The game usually gives you a choice of weapons that would align naturally with your spud choice, but this mod is a great thing for everyone who likes to go beyond that and explore unusual strategies and new combos.

Still, it’s important for you to know that characters like Knight and Gladiator who usually can’t equip ranged weapons will be able to do so here. But, they won’t be offered these weapons in the shop once you begin playing so it would be impossible to upgrade those weapons.

You’ll also have the chance to hit the Random Weapon Button which gives you a random weapon with character perks being included.

Attraction/Pickup Mods

When installing the Attraction/Pickup mod you’re actually installing a couple of mini-mods that make it easier for you to pick up and attract materials and consumables in Brotato. The mod allows you to instantly pick up any drop no matter how far away you are from it.

Some can call this mode too easy, but in the end, it’s not created for players who are looking for a challenge. From my point of view, this mod was made for the exact opposite type of people, namely casual players. If someone just wants to play Brotato to relax and not struggle too much then this mode can help them get that. When they feel they would like a more serious challenge they can simply uninstall it or shut it down.

For me, more options equals a better gameplay experience for any game.

Golden Box Mod

This mod is simple yet effective. It adds Golden Boxes to the game, which upon opening allows you to choose the item you want. The default settings will give you a 2% drop chance from trees and a 20% drop chance from Looters/Goblins. However, this can be changed if you go to Options and check out the Gameplay menu. Essentially, you can give yourself a 100% drop chance from all enemies if you want but that probably wouldn’t be too much fun.

Cheat Mod

If you’re feeling spicy, then the Cheat mod can really come in handy. It allows you to get any item or weapon you want at any point in the game. All you have to do is visit Options and choose what you’d like to have.

It’s a simple yet efficient cheat mod that allows you to just do a Rambo-style massacre with those aliens whenever you want. It’s a great tool for blowing off some steam or experimenting to see whether certain combos can work or not. A perfect testing tool.

Invasion Mod

The Invasion mod is created for all the true fans of Blobfish and their games. It allows you to use items and weapons from their game Space Gladiators. This means that you get an additional 127 items and 7 new weapons to use in your Brotato skirmishes.

The mod aims to introduce all weapons and items from Space Gladiators in some form (some weapons from SG are items in Brotato, some effects have changed, etc.) and to put a higher focus on those stats that are usually less used in Brotato like HP Regen and Engineering.

Even though these changes might not sound too big on the surface, the sheer amount of new items added brings a whole new world of possibilities and builds in Brotato. I would recommend this mod for everyone who has mastered the classic Brotato game and all its most popular builds and is looking to expand their horizons and find new ways to fight waves of aliens!

Genetically Modified Overkill Mod

Genetically Modified Overkill – this highly unusual and at the same time attractive name for a mod hides one of the most amazing modifications to Brotato – character combining. You can cross-breed any two types of spuds to get an ultimate killing machine.

But, you should be careful when mixing Brotato’s original killers because they will bring all of their bonuses and debuffs with them to the newly modified creature. So make sure that debuffs from the first one don’t ruin the advantages of the second.

The mod also brings 13 new items and 5 new weapons with more to come. I personally have never thought about having the option to combine 2 different characters but as soon as I saw it I was amazed at the possibilities it can bring!
