Best Archetype Combos in Remnant 2

So many combos, so many opportunities for the perfect Build

When deciding which base Archetype to run in Remnant 2 there are a ton of factors to keep in mind. As Remnant 2 follows the formula of a Souls-like with a primary and unique difference of firearms instead of the typical array of melee weapons to use, each Class is best used for a specific playstyle. Because of this, it is important to keep in mind the strengths of each Class and how they can benefit you as a player. Some are meant to be played with a more aggressive playstyle, others require more defensive and versatile positioning and some have higher survivability rates for those playing Remnant solo. With the added feature of combining two Classes to create a Build that stacks damage and buffs or provides a more balanced field of play, this is Vincent’s guide on the best Archetype combos to use in Remnant 2.

Choosing your Primary Archetype

Depending on whether or not you are playing Remnant 2 online can also affect your decision on the best Archetype combo to try out. Whilst you have the ability to try out one of the 4 base Classes for free: Handler, Hunter, Challenger and Medic, you should be able to craft a great Build from these 4 alone. Of course, as time goes on and more experimentation is done, you may find that your playstyle works best with a combination that is derived of two Archetypes that you will need to unlock via their unique Engram. However, we highly recommend that when choosing your combination, you think about what works best for you when it comes to the 4 base Archetypes and work from there.

If you are someone who is used to Souls-like games we highly recommend the Challenger as this has massive pros when it comes to both survivability and expertise in melee weapon handling. With a great starting weapon and a playstyle that allows you to play from afar for poke damage that could have a Build based around either Bleed or Weakspot/ Crit hits, the Challenger is a versatile Class that is complete with its aggressive kit to get in close with its high melee damage. The Challenger is a viable option for those playing solo. On the other hand, if you find that you are someone who plays patiently and looks for moments to strike whilst seeking damage from afar more often than going in for the kill constantly, the Handler or Medic is the perfect option for you.

We highly recommend the Medic as a Secondary Archetype as it provides a long of natural support with its passive healing abilities and great Perk that replenishes Relic Charges to keep your health up at all times. But when talking about players who may not be used to playing Dark Souls, Sekiro or Elden Ring and perhaps are more used to games such as Call of Duty, the Handler is the perfect starting option for you. The Handler provides the most balanced Class of mobility, damage and healing whilst having the distraction option given by the four-legged companion. This however needs a purpose when coming up with a Build for it so a Secondary Archetype is actually quite important for the Handler Class.

Best Archetype Combos in Remnant 2

Now getting to the good stuff – choosing the best Archetype combo for Remnant 2. As mentioned above, you will want to have one of the Primary Archetypes – Handler, Challenger or Medic. Although we recommend the Medic as a Secondary which you will see below, the Handler and Challenger are fantastic options for your Build to be based around. Now is the time deciding on what type of Build you are looking to make. Are you looking for something that provides status effects caused by your weapons such as Bleed? Maybe you want to focus on shooting lethal bullets from afar or having the option to dodge effortlessly as you go in for the kill? Whatever the reason, there are great Archetype combinations to use for each Build you are looking for.

The recommendations listed below are all about taking into account which Class works best with one another. We have also listed what Build works best for these too so that you have something to work towards for finding your Weapon, Rings, Relic Charge and Amulets to use to complete the Build. Do not expect the Build to be ready from the moment the Secondary Archetype is unlocked, each Build requires work and a complete Build needs the best weapon to deal the effective damage you want from it, whilst having the Rings, Amulets and Relic Charge to further increase your effectiveness and survivability in combat.
