Atomic Heart Character Customization Explained — Can You Play as a Female?

In games, we can (sometimes) live out our wildest dreams. If you’d like to be a crime boss in Miami, there’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. If you’d like to fight for your life in the depths of the unknown, there’s Dead Space (and like, a million others). But, sometimes you might want to immerse yourself in the shoes of the main character, in which case there are a million-and-one games that let you customize your character.

In Atomic Heart, you play as P-3 / Sergey Alekseyevich Nechaev, but some players are curious to what extent can you customize your character. It could be fun to play as Nechaev, but it might be more fun to have a say in what he looks like and how he acts. Heck, you might not even want him to be a he! Atomic Heart Character Customization Explained

I’d hate to be the bearer of bad news, but Atomic Heart has no character customization whatsoever. It would seem that the only thing you have a hand in customizing is your specific character’s abilities. But, if you wanted to change Nechaev’s gender or facial features … I’m afraid that’s not something you can do.

That said, those who pre-ordered Atomic Heart did receive bonuses in the form of some gold weapons, but as far as we’re aware, these pre-order bonuses are currently unavailable. You can, however, acquire a handful of DLC weapon skin packs that allow you to customize your guns and melee weapons. These packs include:

• Midas Glove Skin
• Labor & Science Weapon Skin Pack
• Golden Age Weapon Skin Pack
  • NOTE: the weapons included in this pack are not the same as the weapons included as pre-order bonuses.
