Animal Crossing New Horizons Donation Box

How to get a Donation Box in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

When you have someone over to your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it’s often customary to leave a monetary gift. Stalk market traders drop some Bells as a courtesy, fans of streamers and VTubers leave little gifts, and friends spot each other for particular expenses. The usual practice is just dropping a bag of Bells on the ground somewhere, but with the version 2.0 update, there’s now a more elegant solution. Here’s how to get a Donation Box in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

The Donation Box is a new kind of furniture piece added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons with the version 2.0 update. It’s exactly what it sounds like: a big wooden box that people can drop lump sums of Bells into to keep them all in one convenient place rather than just leaving bags all over the place. It’s like the big donation boxes you see at your local grocery store. Any visitor to your island can deposit up to 1,000 Bells into the box, and the owner of the box can withdraw the contents whenever they want right into their wallet or pocket. If you have frequent visitors to your island, you can place one next to the airport as a convenient donation collector.

To get a Donation Box in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

  1. Go to the Nook Stop terminal in the Resident Services building
  2. Buy the DIY Recipe for 800 Nook Miles
  3. Craft the Donation Box out of 4 wood and 4 softwood

The Donation Box, or rather its DIY Recipe, can be purchased from the Nook Stop terminal in the Resident Services building for a paltry 800 Nook Miles. In order to craft the Donation Box, you’ll need 4 pieces of wood and 4 pieces of softwood, both of which can be obtained from any of the regular trees around your island. Free advice, use a stone axe so the trees don’t get chopped down.

Once you’ve got your Donation Box, you can also spend 3 Customization Kits to change the box’s color between brown or white, as well as replace the label on the front with a custom design. When you’ve got it the way you like it, just plop it down any old place and let the Bells roll in.
