The “Where’s Waldo?” of Horror Games: All Secret Sightings of Cara

Cara is the primary antagonist of Carson House and makes her presence known within the climax of this Horror Game. However, as you explore through the monitors and in those rare instances of leaving the “safety” of Carson’s House, something will always be seen at the corner of your eye. She appears in hard-to-spot places. Scoping out the area before she strikes. There are likely many more instances of Cara appearing as a means to put the player on edge. This is the real horror of being watched. When you play again, make sure to look out for possible Cara sightings, especially in and around the house. These are the secret sightings of Cara is Carson House. How many did you see whilst playing?

What is great about Carson House is that it is filled with red herrings. Through playing it the first time you have no idea who the antagonist could be. Whilst you will likely spot Cara as a figure in the background of the house. It is harder to take notice of her outside of Carson House. As you progress through the game, there are red herrings that the antagonist could be a deranged fan, set on harassing Roy Carson. However, this is later shown not to be the case. Through the use of flowers and dialogue, we begin to realise that the target of attack is indeed Noah. The attack is in fact motivated by someone he knew fondly at one point.

At the Grocery Store

Your friends tell you that Cara is back in Town and they had just spoken to her in the store you had just entered. Supposedly she had just left when you came in. If you play this part differently, you will see Cara leaving the store by quickly entering her car parked outside. This can only be done when you are arriving to the store. Her car is silver and can regularly be seen throughout the game. So keep that in mind when proceeding.

It appears that she was asking the friends where you were, seeing as she figures out that you were house-sitting for a stranger. You can see her walking to the right of the entrance of Knucks, heading to her car at the side of the store. Whilst riding up on the bicycle, follow her. You will see her get into her car and drive off. There is no interaction between yourself and Cara but it is the first real sighting of her in a well-lit area.

After you finish grocery shopping, you can see her car once again, this time it is parked beside the van (on the right of Knucks). Clearly after spotting you as you enter the store whilst she is about to drive off, she stays to see where you go. You cannot do anything with the car as she is meant to follow you when you cycle home. But it is an added creepiness should you remember the model and color of the car.

Outside the House

If you look out the first floor windows in the Carson House (the end window of the corridor after you climb the stairs), you will see Cara’s car is now pulled up outside the house. Under a singular lamp post, well lit to highlight her presence. We can safely assume however, that of that moment she is not waiting inside that car. This is quickly proven when heading to the Security Room and checking the outside camera monitors. We know that the car outside is hers as it was not previously there and is the exact same model as the one we saw exit the Knucks Grocery Store.

Outside the Laundromat

Cara’s car will also drive by the Laundromat. This is easily missable unless you are aware of what her car looks like. It is the only car that drives by the Laundromat seen at the beginning of the game. What is interesting about including her car here is that for those playing this game, this is not an obvious sign of the antagonist. Especially as the Laundromat is some sort of strange dream sequence. It implies that even in dream form, Noah is thinking about Cara. He recognises her car, although we do not know it is hers at that point. It highlights his fear against Cara, who likely regularly appears in his dreams. Or perhaps it is a premonition for what is coming, seeing as Cara returns to Town on the same day he has this dream.

On the Monitors

This one is tough to spot. Cara can be seen just out the corner of the monitors vision. You will likely see her in the front yard, walking off screen. Quickly skim through the camera, back and forth on the exterior monitors. You should catch her moving, getting a glimpse of her just before she walks off screen. She is looking for the best entrance of her attack. After seeing her here you know she is within close proximity of the house. Start checking the interior camera monitors and keep your eye on the windows. Cara will appear through various windows around the house, sweeping the exterior for her entrance or perhaps just checking the doors for an opening.

When Cara turns off the lights by cutting the power, you can see Cara placing the flowers outside of the front door. Also, Cara can be spotted whilst you are watching TV downstairs, similar to someone walking off screen in Fears to Fathom – Home Alone.

Once she gets inside you can watch her movement on the monitors, noticing how she turns the upstairs TV on and off. You can follow her every move, including if you catch it. Her grabbing the knife from the Kitchen. If you miss it, you can return to the Kitchen to notice the knife is now missing, as she is walking up the stairs.

Inside the House

When strange occurrence start around the house, such as the oven turning itself on, Cara can be found in multiple parts of the house depending on what she is messing with. When you exploring the Kitchen with the oven turned on, Cara is hiding in this room. The camera cannot see her so she will provide a frightening jumpscare in the blind spot of the Kitchen.

The strange occurrences are triggered after you get the lights turned back on as a result of Cara causing a power outage. If you search for her you will find her nearby. Hiding behind doors and crouching behind cover. What you can do here is send the message ‘Who is this?’ to the Unknown Contact and you will hear her phone notification sound go off. This is great additional sound design which adds to the suspense. It is the classic ‘the call is coming from inside the house’ moment which can instantly put you on edge.

When you are hiding from Cara after she knocks on the Security Room door, you can actually interact with the blinds. This allows you to watch her movements as she enters the room. Giving you time to react properly and escape the Carson House. However, remain out of her line of sight so you do not get caught.

The “Bad Ending”

As you are hiding in the storage closet and Cara walks past, if you decide to stay and hide it out instead of run you get a very different outcome. After a few seconds if you miss the window of opportunity, your phone will receive a message. The notification sound will be heard by Cara who is in the room in front of you. She will turn and run at you where you have no escape. This final death is the best in the entire game for it cannot be predicted. It is one of the scariest moments in the entire game and deserved to be a Bad End to the game.
