The Mario + Rabbids sequel is nearly here. Brace yourself for the chaotic, purely entertaining world of Mario + Rabbids. Traverse open worlds, taking on all the quests the game has to offer and battle it out using your favourite in-game compositions. Along the journey you will find and rescue Sparks. These little quirky characters can be equipped to enhance your chosen roster’s abilities. But who is returning in this sequel and who will be the new additions to your roster? Find out below.
Starting Roster
You start with 6 playable characters in your roster. All characters have their own abilities, with strengths and weaknesses depending on which comp you use:
- Mario – The perfect all-rounder and a carrier of the dual pistols. Base your team around him for both aggressive and defensive playstyles.
- Luigi – The Legolas of the Mario universe. A carrier of the bow, Luigi deals damage from a distance and has the best movement range. Flank, dodge and weave through enemies with Luigi on your team.
- Princess Peach – The crucial healing role, protecting her team from damage and saving them from going down in battle.
- Rabbid Mario – A more aggressive playstyle to his counterpart, Rabbid Mario has the special ability of mechanical fists that deal lethal close range damage to multiple targets at once.
- Rabbid Luigi – Similar to Luigi, his counterpart is a long range sniper. His weapon of choice? A frisbee which deals damage to multiple enemies at once through a chained action.
- Rabbid Peach – The aggressive healer. The perfect defensive player as she both heals her team and deals great damage to enemies using a three-missile cannon.
Unlockable Characters
These starting 6 are also recurring characters in the Mario + Rabbids universe. As you progress throughout the story another 3 new characters are added to the roster:
- Edge – Described as a strong, independent Rabbid. Edge is a unique addition into the Rabbid universe. Carrying a giant sword with a super aggressive playstyle of close-combat attacking, she is a great addition to an aggressive team comp with a focus of getting their hands dirty in every battle.
- Rabbid Rosalina – In all the chaos it is hard to get bored but somehow Rabbid Rosalina always is. A carrier of an automatic weapon, she deals damage to break enemy lines and cover.
- Bowser – The tank has arrived. A boss in the first installment, Bowser returns to get back what is his from Cursu: his minions. A big guy with a big gun, what more can be said? The ultimate damage dealer who can also absorb incoming damage to protect the team.
An important note is that Mario is replaceable this time round. This means you can really play around with your team composition as you can only choose 3 to join you in battle, so be strategic with your pick. Rayman is also set to appear as a playable character in the game’s DLC.
