Each opponent comes with their respective Win/Loss record, as well as weaknesses that you can exploit. As you progress, however, the amount of punching power your opponents will increase exponentially.
Additionally, opponents such as Piston Honda and Don Flamenco make multiple appearances in the game. The first time you fight them will not be the same as the second. Since, as a player, you’ve been improving, it’s only natural that returning opponents are doing the same. You’ll want to think of Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out as the soulsbourne of boxing games. You’ll need to download your opponent’s moves and try again and again before you’re able to get that KO victory. Just make sure you don’t forget to keep your hands up, or you could end up on the mat.
