All Abilities and What They Do in Blasphemous 2

The 4 abilities you can get in Blasphemous 2 have different requirements that really act as side missions you can partake in, in order to unlock these very useful tricks. Whilst you will rely heavily on your combat skills by upgrading your starting weapon via the Weapon Memories and use spells whenever possible (so long as you do not keep dying with these in use), the abilities in Blasphemous 2 look to provide an advantage when it comes to general movability across this side-scrolling platforming. Much like other platforming games, you will need to teach yourself some new tricks in order to truly explore the world of Blasphemous 2. These will help you get across difficult situations but also provide an extra hand when getting around enemies by out-manoeuvring them in boss fights and dire circumstances that may normal result in a death.

The abilities in Blasphemous 2 are – Ivy of Ascension, Passage of Ash, Mercy of the Wind, and Scions’ Protection. Each has its unique description for what they do and methods of how to obtain each. The Ivy of Ascension grants the ability to climb up walls and surfaces that you would not typically be able to climb up to. This can help you reach upper platforms that cannot be jumped up to and provide a height advantage against enemies that can only use melee weapons. The Passage of Ash allows players to execute a mid-air jump, allowing them to reach those far-away platforms that would normally result in falling. This can help you reach new areas inside Blasphemous 2 or evade enemies at an easier rate, avoiding any incoming damage with a well-timed jump.

Next, the Mercy of the Wind offers an aerial dash. This is primarily used to get through obstacles that have a barrier that is otherwise impenetrable without the ability equipped. This allows you to get through and into areas that were previously out of your grasp, allowing you to continue your exploration and find new enemies to kill or secrets to uncover. Finally, the Scions’ Protection is more of an upgraded form of the Ivy of Ascension. It provides a greater vertical climb with the aid of the Brothers of the Miracle who will lift you to a higher platform, allowing you to completely skip areas or perhaps regain some steps if you were to accidently fall. These offer you a trip directly to an out-of-reach area that the Ivy cannot reach.

How to Unlock All Abilities

For those who want to get some of these abilities for themselves for their Blasphemous 2 playthrough, here is our location guide and specifics on what you need to do in the game in order to unlock each ability:

  • Ivy of Ascension – Inside Profuno Lamento, speak with Yerma to obtain the Steely Battle Lance to which you need to head right which will result in a collapsed floor. This will send you into the lower level of Profuno Lamento where the Ivy of Ascension can be found.
  • Passage of Ash – Found in Beneath Her Sacred Grounds, head to the bottom of the chasm from Mother of Mothers, taking you to Prie Dieu in which you need to defeat Afilaor. Head out of the boss right and down into a pathway heading off to the left. The Passage of Ash can be found at the bottom of this area.
  • Mercy of the Wind – Inside Crown of Towers where you must cross the bridge to the right of Prie Dieu. This will take you to Crown of Towers where you need to break through the tree trunks to get into the lower level. You then need to traverse through the mirror which will grant you access to the Mercy of the Wind.
  • Scions’ Protection – Head north inside Severed Tower from Prie Dieu until you find the floating mirror which holds a puzzle. Go left from this puzzle statue and head through the small gap located here where at the top of the area you will find Scions’ Protection.
