Age Of Empires is a great strategy game, where even the little things make a tremendous difference. Even if you build a fantastic empire, you will struggle to win a match without walls.

Surrounding and protecting your entire base with walls is very important in the game. Here is a guide to help you upgrade your base’s walls and make them stronger.

Age Of Empires 2 How to Upgrade Walls

If your base lacks walls around it, there is a high probability that the enemy troops will march in and start destroying the buildings. Walls help buy some crucial time and protect your town from invasions. Upgrading walls as you progress through different ages is mandatory.

Before you even build walls, it’s best to know that upgrading Palisade Walls is not possible in the game. They are temporary walls, so you can either break them or construct new walls beside them. However, if you have Stone Walls, you can upgrade them. Stone Walls are available from the Feudal Age. They have 1,800 HP.

You can upgrade the Stone Walls to Fortified Walls using the research option in the University building. The upgrade is only available at Stone Age. Fortified Wall costs 200 food and 100 wood for research. They have 3,000 HP, which is significantly higher than that of Stone Walls. So it’s extremely important that you research this upgrade.

Unfortunately, these walls are not available to the Bulgarians, Cumans, Goths, Huns, Magyars, Malay, Persians, and Sicilians civilizations.
