Iron Banner is back with a brand new daily challenge in Destiny 2 Season of the Haunted. We didn’t know too much about the challenge in advance, so it was something of a surprise to most of us. A confusing surprise, at that, because the way Bungie has implemented the daily challenge is questionable, to say the least.
We’re going to try and explain what the daily challenge is in Iron Banner in Destiny 2 as simply as possible. We’ll highlight where to find it, how to complete it, and what you get for doing so.
What is the Iron Banner Daily Challenge?
Bungie introduced the Iron Banner daily challenge to Destiny 2 in Season of the Haunted. The intention is for it to replace Iron Banner bounties. When you first log in and speak to Lord Saladin, you’ll notice that he doesn’t have any bounties for you. Instead, he’ll give you the Forging Iron quest. That quest will run you through all of the changes made to Iron Banner with Season 17.
Just like how there were four pinnacle bounties in old seasons, there will be four daily challenges every time Iron Banner is active in Destiny 2. You can see the challenges when you hover over the Iron Banner node in the Crucible playlist.
Where the confusion comes from for most people is in that node. Bungie considers your set of four daily challenges to be a weekly similar to your Strike and Gambit weeklies. As such, the node in the Crucible playlist is labeled as weekly, despite the fact that the text reads daily challenge. It’s needlessly convoluted.
The simpler explanation is that every week Iron Banner is on, there are four challenges. You can only complete each challenge once per week. Bungie releases the challenges one by one at the start of the event daily for the first four days, so you can’t speed through all your pinnacles anymore.
Ultimately, these challenges are the same as the old bounties, except their easier to complete and you can’t rush through them all in one go. You still get the same rewards for doing them, though.
