How Do You Cure Poison in Elden Ring?

How Do You Cure Poison in Elden Ring?

Every single RPG in existence either has a poison status ailment or something analogous to poison, like when you catch a cold in Earthbound. In turn-based games, this isn’t that big of a deal, since you have plenty of time to whip out an antidote or something. Elden Ring, however, is very much not a turn-based game, which is why being poisoned in Elden Ring is a much more pressing concern. So, how do you cure poison in Elden Ring?

When an enemy in Elden Ring employs poison in their attacks, they poison you all at once. Rather, when you are hit with a poisoned attack, a poison meter appears near the bottom of your screen. If you continue to take poisoned hits, that meter will fill, and if it fills all the way up, you’re officially poisoned. Once you’re officially poisoned, your health will begin steadily draining for a long period of time, even after combat ends. It’s bad enough to worry about major sources of incoming damage, so definitely don’t want that poison dangling over your head.

How Do You Cure Poison in Elden Ring?

There are two ways to cure poison in Elden Ring, as well as one way to mitigate the effects of poison. Those three ways, in that order, are:

  1. Poison-curing consumables
  2. Poison-curing spells
  3. Boosting your Immunity stat

There are consumable items that can immediately clear the poison from your system and remove the status ailment. If the poison meter hasn’t been filled all the way, these items can also be used to empty it out. The most common of these items is the Neutralizing Bolus. Neutralizing Boluses can be looted off of certain enemies or purchased from the Nomadic Merchant found to the southeast of Coastal Cave. If you obtain Armorer’s Cookbook [2], you can also craft your own Neutralizing Boluses with the following ingredients:

  • Herba x1
  • Cave Moss x1
  • Great Dragonfly Head x1

If you prefer more mystical solutions, you can cleanse poison by casting the Cure Poison spell. Cure Poison is an Incantation sold by Brother Corhyn, the blind monk guy who hangs out in the main room of Roundtable Hold, for 1,000 Runes. Remember, Incantations require Sacred Seals in order to cast. Just like the Neutralizing Bolus, this spell can both cure poison and empty the poison meter.

Of course, the best solution to being poisoned is to not get poisoned in the first place. You can prevent poisoning by boosting your Immunity, a defensive stat that’s reliant on your Vigor stat. The higher your Immunity, the longer it takes for the poison meter to fill all the way up, allowing you to tank more poisoned hits without being worried about actually getting poisoned.
