The Cuphead Show Release Date

‘The Cuphead Show!’ Release Date

The official Cuphead animated series is coming to Netflix

It warms my heart to see Cuphead taking off. Not only was the original game a fantastic send-up to old-timey rubberhose cartoons, but the entire project was a genuine labor love on the developers’ parts, and you can tell from every wiggly animation, warbling trumpet, and hair-pulling death. Since Cuphead came out in 2017, it’s been steadily building a social profile, starting with the usual Funko Pops and moving up into brand deals. You know Arby’s had a Cuphead meal for a while? After all that work, it’s time for Cuphead and Mugman to reach the point they were always meant to: their very own cartoon. So, let’s take a look at the release date for The Cuphead Show!

Way back in 2019, it was quietly announced that Netflix had given Studio MDHR and their associates the greenlight for an official Cuphead animated series, aptly titled The Cuphead Show! Since then, production on the show has maintained near-complete radio silence, only breaking briefly when a storyboard cut of the first episode was screened at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June of 2020, though this cut wasn’t shown to the public. This week, though, the radio silence finally ended.

The Cuphead Show Release Date

The Cuphead Show! is on its way to Netflix on February 18, 2022, just one month away.

Using the game’s story as a framework, the show focuses on the two young brothers Cuphead and Mugman as they get into a variety of shenanigans against the advice of the Elder Kettle. These shenanigans will regularly have them crossing paths with the characters from the game, including Ribby and Croaks, Ms. Chalice, King Dice, and of course, the Devil himself. It’s shaping up to be a fun blend of both deadpan joke delivery and wacky slapstick comedy, perfect for cartoon enthusiasts both young and old.
