How to Score Field Goals in Madden 24

With the latest entry for the Madden franchise sees the return of mastering the kick function in this American Football game. Much like the release of every new FIFA game, players have to figure out exactly how to kick the ball for the 20th+ year in a roll. Each game sees the return of that power and precision gauge and with literally no tutorial on how to efficiently kick the ball, you may find yourself fumbling when it matters most. For those looking to score more than just touchdowns, this is Vincent’s guide on how to score Field Goals in Madden 24.

How to Kick in Madden 24

Similar to kicking at well, Kick Off, players need to pay attention to wind speed and the pointer to adjust your aim across the goalposts. Wind can massively affect both where the ball ends up and how much it moves after the kick. When lining up your shot (left stick control), be sure to refer to where the wind is blowing (bottom right of the screen) so that you can make the accurate adjustment that factors this into your kick. Now that you have the position down, you need to focus on the amount of power and accuracy you are putting behind the kick. Because it is not said by Madden at all in any tutorial mode, you will need to look at the power meter located next to your player. The harder the power you want to put behind on your kick, the longer you wait until the meter fills blue to green.

The meter has a line that indicates the limit which you want to stay below or nearby for those all-powerful shots. Of course, the best power you can put behind your shot is to directly hit the white line in the meter. When it comes to accuracy, this is determined after initiating the kick, choosing your power and waiting for the meter to drop back down into the dark blue section of the meter. This small window is what you need to aim for as it is just before the first line of the gauge. It demonstrates pure accuracy and through hitting it in that sweet spot, you will receive accuracy in the kick.

The controls you need are solely X (PlayStation) or A (Xbox) which will be used to start the kick, select the power of it (green window of the bar) and then how much accuracy is put behind it (dark blue window).

How to Score Field Goals From Far Away

When attempting to score Field Goals from further down the field, you need to pay attention to the wind as mentioned above but this time, move your aiming pointer all the way down by pulling down with the left analog stick. This will allow the ball to travel further, negating the effect of the wind. You still however want to take into account which way the wind is pulling but to not overcompensate and instead make just a slight adjustment (left or right) to combat the wind. This time, you want to time the kick so that it is in the green area of the meter and right before the white line. For accuracy, lock in the kick just before the starting line of the meter (where the X/A) button was located before you started the kick.

Max power and accuracy is incredibly important if you are further away than desired when getting your Field Goal. You can risk having a lower power the closer you are to the goalposts but when you are far away, it is best to focus on getting the most power by firstly waiting and pressing X/A when the meter fills just below the white line and then to hit X/A once again when the meter drops close to the black line or where you can see a small X/A icon.
