Best Maneuvers in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)

A sub-class feature for a Fighter that's not afraid to flex their brain as much as their muscles

Classes in Baldur’s Gate 3 are a lot more intricate and in-depth than they seem. Each class has their own set of subclasses that players can select when starting their campaign. Looking towards the tank-oriented Fighter, you’ll have the option of selecting between 3 different subclasses. Battle Master is one of these options, allowing Fighters to have a more tactical approach to their combat. As you level, you’ll be able to earn some new interesting features from this subclass, namely one called Maneuvers. This feature allows players to choose extra actions from a list of unique attacks tied to the subclass. We’re going to level up further and take a look at the best Maneuvers in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3).

When players level up their Fighter to level 3, you’ll get the option to select a subclass. In order to use Maneuvers, you’ll need to select the Battle Master subclass. After selecting the subclass, you’ll then get to choose 3 Maneuvers to use. If you don’t know how it works, players will gain 4 d8 superiority dice (upped to d10s at level 10) and can spend these on their Maneuvers actions. Dice will refresh after short and/or long rests, and players will be able to obtain 7 total Maneuvers by the time they reach max level. And with 14 total options, choosing the right ones can make all the difference in a fight.

We’ve selected 7 Maneuvers that we believe will help you and your party out the most during your playthrough. In what order you obtain them is up to you, as for some scenarios/party makeup, you’ll want to have these actions at different times. Keep in mind some attack actions have a choice between a ranged and melee versions, allowing you to cater even more to your specific build. Here are the best Maneuvers in BG3:

  • Disarming Attack — Melee or Ranged — Make an attack that deals additional damage and potentially forces target to drop weapon(s) they’re holding
  • Feinting Attack — Action —Use both your action and bonus action to attack target with an advantage and deal additional damage
  • Evasive Footwork — Action — Evade attacks by imposing disadvantage on melee attacks against you for a round
  • Sweeping Attack — Action — Swing weapon in a rapid, sweeping arc to attack multiple enemies at once
  • Riposte — No Action — When enemy creature misses a melee attack on you, spend a superiority die to retaliate with a powerful strike
  • Pushing Attack — Melee or Ranged — Make attack that deals additional damage and possibly pushes target back 4.5m
  • Rally — Action — Grant an ally temporary HP, bolstering their resolve
