How to Get Emergency Valve in Amnesia: The Bunker

Lockdown is the least of your concerns

A place for soldiers to reside in and rest in between shifts inside the trenches, the Bunker was meant to be a safe place for the French Army. Instead, something was released by accident, something dark and cruel and would stop at nothing to get what it desires. With soldiers losing their minds as the minutes tick by in this horrible world that demands war, to lose your last hope of the Bunker, leaving it to ruin as sick soldiers are left behind shows that what lurks inside is something that every Sergeant, Colonel and General are too scared to handle. Emergency Lockdown has been initiated, leaving Henri Clements inside, trapped and completely alone. In order to lift the Lockdown, you need the Emergency Valve. This is Vincent’s guide on where you can find it.

On first playthrough you may find that the Beast is far more aggressive and serious in the first hour of the game. This is due to the very limited space you have to play with. The Emergency Lockdown has cut off access to Maintenance, Soldiers Quarters, Arsenal and Prison. Because of this, the first real action you need to take in Amnesia: The Bunker is the lifting of the Emergency Lockdown.

Where to Find the Emergency Valve

Everything you need to progress through the game is within the Missions Storage, located opposite the the Valve stand. But these Lockers require codes obtained by finding Dog Tags from falling soldiers. Some important information to note – we cannot tell you specific codes for these guides as these are randomized in every playthrough. However, after playing through Amnesia: The Bunker multiple times, I have found that whilst the codes change every game, their locations do not. Therefore, we will show you exactly where you need to go and what you should do to survive the ordeal.

The Dog Tag you need is Delisle. You need to head into the only explorable area currently available to you as you have just started the game. This is the Officer Quarters. Delisle can be found as the final room on the left hand side. The door of course is locked. Whilst you could blast it open using a Frag Grenade inside the Mission Storage (on the shelving unit between the two doors). You will need to get into Mission Storage regardless. To do so, look for the opened grate on the right-hand side of the second Storage door. Interact, hold and move the grate cover into a position that is both of out the way and does not attract the Beast by making noise when dropping it. Afterwards, simply climb up, crouch and crawl into the vents.

All items that are both consumable or throwable can be assigned a hotkey to make it easier to bring out. Whilst sometimes I prefer being able to go into my Inventory to take a breather, it will be useful to have weapons and the Pocket Watch assigned to a button. If you decide to use the Frag just to test how fast the Beast reacts to the noise, be sure to run back to the Administrator’s Office as this is a safe spot for now. For those who want the quick and quiet approach, go into Lounge’s Room and to the back-right corner. Move the crates and barrels out of the way to find an opened grate. Move this, staying as quiet as possible as there is a hole for the Beast to come through in this very room. Crawl though and interact, hold and pull the two wooden boards out of the way.

You should find the Dog Tags on the floor, beside the corpse. Rotate the Tag to find the code which Henri will memorize and put into his Code Log located in the same screen as your Inventory. There is also a Pocket Bag on the wall beside the door, pick this up for extra Inventory Slot. Now that you have the Tag, you need to get into the Mission Storage again. Use the code on Delisle’s Locker to get the Emergency Valve. Now you can head back to the Valve stand, place the new one in by going into your Inventory, equipping, holding to interact and then placing it on the stand when you see the prompt on your screen. It is just like the healing action you would have done in the Intro.

Now that the Emergency Lockdown is lifted, the fun starts from here. Where you decide to go next is up to you. Good luck, the Beast is waiting.
