Bungie’s Destiny 2 showcase has come and gone. Just because it was short-lived, though, doesn’t mean that we didn’t get spoiled, because we most certainly did.
Amidst all the new Witch Queen and Final Shape news was the announcement of the new exotic weapons coming with Season of the Lost. Specifically, we’re going to be looking at how you can get the new Season of the Lost exotic Lorentz Driver in Destiny 2.
How to Get the Lorentz Driver Exotic in Destiny 2
All you free-to-play players can rejoice because you don’t need to pay for the Battle Pass to get your hands on the new Lorentz Driver exotic. Free players need to get their Battle Pass to level 35 to unlock the Lorentz Driver. This shouldn’t take dedicated players more than a few days to achieve.Â
If you want immediate access to the new exotic, though, all you have to do is purchase the premium version of the Battle Pass. Premium Battle Pass holders get the Lorentz Driver automatically, skipping the need to get to level 35. The Battle Pass can be upgraded for 1000 silver, or $10. With that, you’re getting the Lorentz Driver along with a host of new content exclusive to Season of the Lost.Â
Of course, there’s no point in getting the Lorentz Driver without knowing what it actually is.Â
What is the Lorentz Driver?
The Lorentz Driver an exotic weapon that will occupy your energy slot. It’s also a linear fusion rifle, meaning it gets to take advantage of the recent buffs to the weapon subclass.Â
Okay, it’s an exotic energy fusion rifle. What else?
Well, its exotic perk is a bit of a mouthful. First of all, it marks targets with an automated targeting system. Getting final blows on these market targets will drop a telemetry pattern. Picking up these drops will grant you bonus ability energy, with three successive pickups granting increased weapon damage for a decent duration.
There’s a lot to unpack with that perk, but it’s clear that the Lorentz Driver has synergy with ability energy-generating builds. Stasis Hunters will be able to use it to great effect and that’s not even touching on its damage buff.
Whether using the Lorentz Driver over something like an Anarchy is a good idea is a point of debate, though. Even with the buffs, linear fusion rifles aren’t able to keep up with some of the meta’s heaviest hitters out there.
It’s still a weapon that’s well worth your time and attention, though.
