League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational Day 4
The Fate of Group A
Unless something goes cataclysmically wrong for Royal Never Give Up, one win out of their next four matches will secure them a spot in the Rumble stage. The true contest will be fought between Pentanet GG and Unicorns of Love, both of which come from regions that have had sputters of international success. Both teams are sitting at a 1-3 record and both have four matches tomorrow. There is a world where both of those teams end up 3-5 at the end of tomorrow with a tied record for the head-to-head, which would result in a tiebreaker match.
Niche vs Meta
There are tradeoffs when deciding team compositions in champion select. Meta champions are called ‘meta’ for a reason – they provide the highest chance of winning, whether it be for ease of execution or the best bang for your buck in terms of stats. However, against some of the best teams in the tournament like RNG or Damwon who are extremely versed in the meta, a niche pick or two will absolutely be necessary to secure victory. Darius, Fiddlesticks, Kassadin and Yone are some champions that have already been played once and may add that ‘X-factor’ that makes teams unpredictable.
