With Day 2 completed, standings are starting to solidify the pecking order of teams. The LoL MSI held in Reykjavik continued as many have expected, barring the match involving the LCS, who find themselves in a perilous situation. At the end of the day, both the LPL representative Royal Never Give Up and the LCK powerhouse Damwon KIA demonstrated their superiority over other teams in the tournament.
League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational Day 2 Results
Here are the results from the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational Day 2:
Team 1 | Team 2 | Results |
Pentanet GG | Royal Never Give Up | 0-1 |
Unicorns of Love | Royal Never Give Up | 0-1 |
Damwon KIA | Gillette Infinity | 1-0 |
DetonatioN FocusMe | Cloud9 | 1-0 |
fastPay Wildcats | MAD Lions | 0-1 |

North America’s Hope
Cloud9 has long been NA’s last hope for international success. Reaching Worlds Semi-Finals in 2019, the team has a drastically better track record than all other NA teams when playing at the MSI or World Championship. However, dropping a game to DetonatioN FocusMe puts C9 in a 0-2 situation, a deep hole they will have to dig out of.
Champions and Meta
It is fitting that Rumble is the only 100% presence champion while teams are fighting to reach the Rumble stage in the MSI. Staples such as Gnar, Udyr and Kai’sa have reached high levels of appearances as well, but the consistency of the triple threat Lee Sin and Morgana has continued well into Day 2. And more interestingly and slightly amusing, RNG is continuing to ban Ahri against Pentanet GG’s mid laner Chazz.
