Where to Find the River Exe Map Clue in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

Vikings are often well known as an ocean fairing group, and indeed, they had plenty of vessels capable of long-distance travel across stormy seas (for a given degree of “capable,” given the time period). However, the lion’s share of Viking vessels were actually constructed with smaller-scale travel in mind, such as traversing coasts, fjords, and of course, rivers. Since Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is all about those hearty Norsemen, it stands to reason that there’d be plenty of river travel, but contrary to what you may think, river travel isn’t just a matter of going in a straight line; you need a map. Here’s where to find the River Map Clue for River Exe in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Upon completing the game’s first River Raid attack, you’ll receive a questline titled “The Legacy of Saint George,” in which you can obtain the pieces of Saint George’s armor. When the entire armor set is assembled, and paired with Saint George’s sword in the following quest, you can put it on to get increased speed and an attack bonus after impaling an enemy. Plus, it looks snazzy as heck. To find the armor pieces, though, you’ll need to find River Map Clues that point out their locations. There is one clue hidden in each of the three rivers: the Exe, the Dee, and the Severn. Each one points to two pieces of armor.

Where to Find the River Exe Map Clue in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

The Map Clue of the River Exe can be found at Escanceaster Monastery. It’s located on the east side of the river, right in the center of the landmass. There’ll be some mooks guarding the place, so either sneak past them or stomp them all.

Find the church located on the Monastery’s left side. Inside the church, there should be a small table with a distinctive piece of paper on it. That’s your clue! Simply interact with the paper to obtain the clue. With the clue in your possession, you’ll be able to find the Cape and Shield of Saint George, so look in the designated spots with Odin’s Vision.

Just a heads up, don’t bother looking for the armor without the clues. Their locations are randomized, and they won’t even spawn until you’ve picked the clue up.
