Pokémon Stadium is a classic game that many of us likely remember playing as kids, but for those who don’t already know, Pokémon Stadium is a strategy video game originally developed by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. This simple game allows players to battle the crap out of each other using their favorite Pokémon, which is arguably everyone’s favorite part of the franchise!
The only downside to Pokémon Stadium is that players have limited options when it comes to Pokémon. In case you were unaware, this game came out forever ago, and only recently became available on the Nintendo Switch. Players can choose Pokémon from a preset list of rentals, but all of the available Pokémon are exclusively from Gen 1. If you want to make the most out of your rentals in this game but aren’t sure which to go with, then you’re in luck!
Just choose any of the following Pokémon from this list of all the best rental Pokémon in Pokémon Stadium:
Best Rental Pokémon in Pokémon Stadium
Zapdos
You probably saw this one coming, but that doesn’t make Zapdos any less of an absolute powerhouse. Legendary status aside, Zapdos is easily one of the best Pokémon to have on any Pokémon team, but it comes in especially handy in Pokémon Stadium.
Not only does Zapdos have a crazy high special attack stat, but it also can wipe out nearly all Bug, Fighting, Grass, Water, and Flying-type Pokémon with its flying and electric-type moves! It’s only weak to rock and ice-type moves, so in addition to being a force of nature, it’s also nearly invulnerable!
Snorlax
Snorlax is just a massive tank that’s capable of literally eating all of your enemy’s moves. You may not think that a normal-type Pokémon is capable of going up against champions like Zapdos or Gengar, but think again: normal-type Pokémon are only weak to fighting-type moves, and are completely invulnerable to ghost-type moves, meaning Snorlax could literally crush a Gengar or a Hitmonlee in its sleep.
Additionally, as previously mentioned, Snorlax is just tanky. This beefy boy’s HP and defense stats are crazy high, it can literally take nearly anything that’s thrown at it. You might not be dealing out any super-effective moves with Snorlax, but its regular moves pack more than enough of a punch!
Jolteon
Electric type Pokémon are some of the best Pokémon to have on your team, and since Jolteon is just a pure electric-type, it’s easily one of the best rental Pokémon in Pokémon Stadium!
Not only is this Pokémon crazy fast, but it’s also a pure electric-type Pokémon. Pure electric-type Pokémon have only one weakness: ground. As long as your Jolteon doesn’t meet the business end of any ground-type moves, it’ll be nearly impossible to stop!
Gengar
Gengar is one of the most popular choices of rental Pokémon in Pokémon Stadium for a reason! Gengar has all the beefiness that you’d expect of a Pokémon that big, but with an additional wicked speed stat. This Pokémon moves fast, there are very few Pokémon in Pokémon Stadium’s rental roster that can outspeed this demon!
Gengar also is invulnerable to all fighting and normal-type attack moves and is only weak to a handful of move types. Furthermore, it has the highest special attack stat of all of the rental Pokémon in Pokémon Stadium!
Lapras
Not only is Lapras pretty to look at, but it’s also incredibly deadly! This Pokémon can take hits like a champ and deal them out just as hard and twice as fast; if you want a winner on your team in Pokémon Stadium, then you need a Lapras!
Lapras brings something to the table that no other Pokémon on this list can: ice-type moves. Ice-type moves are capable of taking down any pesky flying-type Pokémon getting in your way, including the all-powerful Zapdos! Plus, Lapras can also learn Confuse Ray and Sing, which are fantastic moves to use against tankier Pokémon!
Muk
Muk may not be everyone’s first choice when picking through Pokémon Stadium’s roster of rentals, but it definitely should be. Muk has a stupidly high HP stat, meaning it can eat just about any move that gets thrown its way for breakfast!
In addition to being able to tank hits like a god, Muk also has a terrifying attack stat. This means it can deal attack damage like no one’s business! Muk also has access to powerhouse moves like Self Destruct and Hyper Beam, which can one-shot nearly any Pokémon!
